New FIFA 09 Trailer Talks Be A Pro: Seasons
Posted by Adam Barenblat at 11:00 AM on October 4, 2008
If you enjoyed the "Be a Pro" mode last year then you'll likely welcome the newest addition, Be a Pro: Seasons. In the new mode you can not only create a player, but take them into a four season campaign. Another interesting aspect is that you won't be tied down to one single character, you can switch players at any time. FIFA 09 ships in the states on October 14th for Xbox 360, PS3, PSP, DS, and PS2.

@alfredofroylan: Not to mention that very unlike Madden Fifa has serious competition in Winning Eleven that really drives improvements in the game. Also this year that game has some really sweet new features that I am sure a lot of people have been looking forward to for a long long time.

@jello44: You seriously have to ask that question?
We're on the Internet, in a games' blog. That should be quite self-explanatory for any comments that sound crazier than Duke Nukem with a skirt.

@alfredofroylan:
Why don't people actually PLAY these games before making judgments about them?

@alfredofroylan: you must not know what your talking about...because ever since fifa 06 it's been a completely different game, especially gameplay..it's changed so much every year.

@alfredofroylan: Because it's not. If you'd played, for example, FIFA 06, and FIFA 09, you'd probably know that.
Not that I'm a FIFA fan myself of course, but the game has made big changes over recent years

Fifa is like Madden .... Why people don't notice that it's the same game year after year?

@alfredofroylan: Shut up and play the damn game before opening your mouth. Or at least read some reviews. Currently in reviews, FIFA 09 is averaging 89, NHL 09 is averaging 90 and MADDEN 09 is getting 85. NBA Live still sucks and it's 70.

That Be a Pro Mode would really appeal to me - if only it wasn't in a soccer game.
Of course, it couldn't really be in any other type of game, right?

After trying out the PES 09 demo last night i'm sorry to admit that i'll be going with FIFA once again this year. EA has done a good job capturing the attention of PES fans because frankly Konami has lost it. PES devs have gotten sloppy. Step 1... spend more time on animations.

@thefais: this IS in the NHL09 game, fairly interesting I think. Allowed me to make a 6'9" bruiser of a defenseman. The hockey version gives you the option to sit on the bench between shifts (and in the penalty box) OR to control whichever player relieves you between shifts.

@thefais: It should be in the basketball game too, in my opinion.

@alfredofroylan: I am getting tired of you non-Fifa playing folks throwing your 2 cents in about the game and and the sport just because you own a tongue. This goes for commenters like you and the bloggers who write misinformed articles about the game.
Do like I do. When I come across an article on Kotaku about a game like Madden which I don't like and subsequently don't play, I keep my mouth shut.

@alfredofroylan: Play Fifa06 and then 08 or 09 big differences in game play graphics and pretty much everything.

So its exactly like NHL 09, except you can pass the ball around.....that doesnt really surprise me that much...I mean it make sense to switch players, its a big field in comparison to a hockey rink.

The sense of speed you get when you spring towards the goal in be a pro mode is quite similar to the Gears Of War sprint. Im loving Fifa 09 atm.
Only gripe is my game just froze while uploading a video clip to EA's servers.

@kingme:
wait, did you just compare football to ice hockey, or Fifa 09 to NHL 09?

@buxton:
I think he did.
Anyways, in my opinion basketball and hockey don't make great video games. Not enough ways to score, basketball is half decent but hockey's only good for crushing people against walls.

Hmmm, downloading the PES demo now... we'll have to see.
Fifa is looking good though.

@excel_excel: Fifa really is rather good this year, been playing it this morning. I know exactly how you feel about PES, but I almost feel that last year's suffices for now, where as Fifa really is a significant step up.

@TearsandScreams: yeah, Fifa has being upping its game constantly but with PES its like were still stuck with a barely upgraded PES 5 if you know what I mean!
