Posted by Adam Barenblat at 4:00 PM on October 7, 2008
A while back we posted the first Prince of Persia developer diary. Today we got the second. This new one focuses on one of the bosses you will fight as well as Ahriman's corruption that's spread across the world. Prince of Persia will hit Xbox 360, PS3, and PC on December 2nd.

Hmm, I'm a little worried about having no life system. Just seems if you die/fall there isn't any real consequences.
We'll have to see. Looking nice though!

I like how you get to choose the powers. I do hope that is decently dynamic. A little RPG salt usually makes games tastes great.

@Spenze: This is no Sands of Time, mate. Hopefully the companion system will shape out nicely.

This game is looking really great so far. Still can't help but think of Ico which is by no means a bad thing.

I'm definitely buying this game the day it comes out, but, there's no point to watch the developers, they are just like the biggest spoiler box being opened

@Jiyoni: True, but we won't have the sands of time to rewind, so game overs would be even more frequent.
I find that because of this, it'll probably even out. plus takes out the middle man of reloading after dying, making it a bit quicker process, which always annoyed me during those days when i went from my normal PoP master to making the prince look like he couldn't bend over without falling in to a spike pit (when i have bad days with these games...they're REALLY bad).
I agree about it looking good though.

@Jiyoni:
Their philosophy is that their system is essentially the same as a checkpoint system, sans the loading and stop in gameplay. You fall, she tosses you back to the last 'checkpoint'. You're about to die, she gives you a second wind.
It looks good on paper.

I'm not really interested in this one. I thought the Prince (who now has an American accent?) was meant to climb up vines and swing on to tree branches fifty times. Not use some diggy claw to hook in to walls.
And that magical woman reeeeally seems silly.

Haha, I love developer diaries because of the stilted deliveries of their lines.

I hope this game is long, at least 20 hours. It looks great, love the art style, and the idea of returning life to the world is a nice nod to Okami, but I just couldnt justify throwing 70 Euro on another 8 hour game

I can't help but be reminded of Twilight Princess by the dark energy and having a magical female companion (not that that's necessarily a bad thing). I also can't help but be excited for this game even though I'm afraid taking out the ability to rewind time will take away everything that made the Sands of Time trilogy good. Hopefully I won't be disappointed come December 2nd.

Game looks fantastic, really. Can't wait to play it and I love the art style. the only thing that worries me is that that boss seems very similar to the first one, both in looks, style and the fight in general (Though not exactly the same, obviously).

I hope the hype in this Developer Diary = positive reviews. I've been burnt by these diaries before. A lot of them just blow smoke up your ass.

For some reason this game reminds me of God Of War. I don't mean regarding the gameplay mechanics, but just the feel and the music. Odd.

Anyone else sees Ico/SotC in there? I mean, the white girl, the black matter, the "David vs Goliath", the windmills from the previous trailers, the art style in general. Not that it's a bad thing. I'm just pointing out the obvious influence. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

Wonder how the script will be in this game. The gameplay is obviously amazing, just hope the dialogue can match it as well.

Mmm, still don't know how I feel about the whole "dying without dying" mechanic. I'll admit it would be very convenient, but it's hard to imagine if it would retain the same sense of victory over said obstacle/monster. Or maybe I've just been playing too much Megaman 9? xD

Looks good, except I really don't like the idea of having to play every level twice to collect "lightseeds."

@amarney: Hopefully the gameplay will be different. I think that the "lightseed gameplay" will be more pure platforming, and will probably be the funnest part of the game for a lot of people.
Yes, I said funnest.

S does this mean you can't actually die in the game since Elika always seems to save you? (Or penalties stated include enemies that regenerate their health and backtracking in platform levels.)

@Hamsfork: that's a definite plus in my book.
I wasn't really interested in the prince of persia series, but the more I see of this game the more I'm reminded of games that I absolutely love like Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime3, Okami, etc...
