Saint's Row 2 Soundtrack Revealed
Posted by Mike Fahey at 2:30 AM on October 8, 2008
Saint's Row 2 is just around the corner, and in order to whet fans' appetites even further, THQ has released the full track listings for the in-game radio stations. There are 11 different stations, 6 of which are music focused, with stations ranging from rap to funk, alternative to 80's. It's a rather lengthy list, and almost completely unfamiliar to me until you hit Avenged Sevenfold about halfway down the page, which is sad, because that comes after funk, and I am all about the funk.
Hit the jump for the full list, lovingly extracted from table format by hand, the way grandpa used to do it.

Just seeing my Chemical Romance makes me want to vomit. Nothing exciting listed there anyhow and for some reason it can never seem to hold a candle to GTA's soundtrack. Although I liked Winger's song "Seventeen" in the previous installment.

A good selection, although i´m really surprised of the amount of indie music on it.
Anyway, does anybody knows if there´s a rule that every game with a soundtrack should have Wolfmother-Woman on it?? I´m sure there´s one...

Kasabian is suddenly getting a ton of play from video games... I think they had a song in an EA Sports game, then Rock Band 2, now Saints Row 2. I definitely approve.
These songs are leaps and bounds ahead of GTA 4, imo.. it's just too bad come Oct 14th I'll be broke :(

I think there's some good stuff here, I like the variety of music, I really do. K12 and Krunch are both good representations of the genre.
But... Um, this is a game about being a gang member from the ghetto, right? What happened to the rap? The first game had tracks made for it by people like Ghostface Killah. I'll listen to those other stations, I have really really wide tastes, but there is a time when a guy just wants to listen to The Takeover when doing a driveby, and I'm a bit upset I won't have that chance.

Always hated the Saints Row music. Some obscure bands that don't make even decent level music. Some bands that are headliners but their music is lame. Couldn't we have at least a few "real" bands? Not just stuff you find recommended by a Hot Topic employee. If you want to be original you should give us the ability to create our own radio stations.

Next week can't come any faster without said *Delorean*. Still raising an eyebrow at how little hip-hop and electronic music there is opposed to classical and that easy - listening. We're always gonna complain about something, but COME ON! Even out the genres!

The soundtrack is bad, and good at the same time. Bad because they used songs which were from GTA games, which shouldn't be the case, and that there's also stupid songs over there like "The Final Countdown"????
The rest is pretty good, kinda like the typical Need for Speed soundtrack though. I'd still prefer GTA IV's soundtrack. Thanks. For those who think it's better than GTA IV's, I think you should seriously question your musical tastes.

Looks like s shat load of music and bands I've never heard of...
cool... GTA4 had loads of stuff i was ignorant of, and I like that soundtrack, for a large part.
As in, I would listen to many of those songs while playing. Radio Broker hosts, pretty much, nothing I would want to listen to minus the GTA4-ness.
I think it has a great soundtrack.
I can see this being one, aswell.
Plus, KLASSIC!!
That pissed me off about GTA4... No Double Cleff!
Damn you Rockstar. That, and talk, was all I listened to in III... I think.
Kudos SR2... kudos.
The Mix sounds cool too. In a nostalgic, humerous, "We're leaving for Veenus", kind of way.
haha :)

There's a lot of win in this soundtrack, and lots of surprises. I mean Opeth? Not bad.
@Phronima:
I really wouldn't call Opeth mainstream. They're not that famous yet. Which is too bad, they need to get their music out there, cause they rock.
/if by "mainstream" you mean known.
But if you meant radio-friendly or not hardcore, you must be kidding. 12 minute songs is NOT "mainstream".

LCD Soundsystem? Death From Above? Hot Chip? Tokyo Police Club? The Thermals? The Subways? Deftones? Psychedelic Furs?
Wow, that sure beats GTAIV's...um, that guy with the...eh, you know that singer guy...from that band. Erm, GTAIV may not have had great music but at least it allowed you to play your own...oh wait, never mind.

I always judge a game on the reggae they choose to put in it. Meh, could have been better. They get bonus points for adding Eek-A-Mouse and Ninja Man.

K12 looks awesome. Many songs are oldish, but all are hits.
Kind of makes you wonder what the term "Indie" means nowadays when they even have Chromeo in FIFA 09 or Pendulum in Pure.

@Sanspants: Agreed, Minus the Bear is a hell of an addition, makes me want to pick up the game.
And Why has it taken so long for Rock Band and Guitar Hero to pick up on Indie bands? Musically, bands like this would be a great fit as their difficult guitar arrangements make for a perfect fit in both series?
