Four more ways to make this idea more annoying/awkward:

1. Shia LeBeouf becomes the protagonist with the weiner-arm (Awkwardly fitting too... How does a feminine-looking guy take on a masculine role? Can his publicist explain that to me?)

2. Uwe Boll Directing this film. Then again, this premise is so bad already, that it might actually HELP the project! (God, help me...)

3. The costumes of Street Fighter (The Movie) make a return! Hey, someone's gotta recoup the costs, somehow. Besides, you might find Van Damme in there somewhere.

4. Fogell (From Superbad) IS Bionic Commando!!!

The only person that could take the lead role would be Mike Patton. I haven't heard any of the voice work for the game, but already I can tell you, nobody will be able to replicate the voice work.

@sadisticfreak432: I'd love to see this. I wonder though, how distinct of a character could Radd Spencer be, even with Mike Patton voicing him? Maybe he randomly scats at the end of each level or lets out a piercing shriek set to John Zorn trumpets when falling from a great distance.

OK, and to make it related to the topic, I think a bionic commando movie would be awesome. It sounds like it would have a good story. I mean anything is better than the fighting games movies out there where the story is: There is something wrong, I have to enter a fighting tournament to find out what it is or to solve the mystery. Oh man, how many times that been done?

The could make this entertaining if they stick to the original game and make an over-the-top 80's style action flick and not some over-stylized post-Matrix crapfest featuring an angsty dreadlocked white guy protagonist.
