Or maybe they'll call the male version Wizard and female version Witch/Sorceress. But they show the female and call it the wizard trailer so I don't know lol.

@knyghtryda: I don't understand why a game should be approaching uncanny valley when you'll be playing 98% of it from the sky. They clearly threw in a model shift there for cutscenes, and that's how it should be done.

@SpearXXI: Pick up Diablo 2, it should be fairly cheap. Get the expansion pack too. The story is enjoyable, if you actually listen to them and don't skip it. It's a really fun, addictive game.

Blizzard definitely just earned itself a few awesomeness points right there. Not only did they make the somewhat generically-named Wizard look ridiculously bad-ass (that bit where she creates a slow-projectile field and then reflects the projectiles back was wonderful), not only did they bring back Leoric, one of my favorite bosses from the first Diablo, but they brought back his old intro too. :D

@Grandreaper999: Normally I don't reply to such things but you do realize this takes place years later? Who knows what cave-ins or changes were made below. I doubt the cultist and demons just sat there twiddling their thumbs for over 20 years. The world had changed and with it the Cathedral.

King Leoric was defeated in his tomb, but whose to say that when he came back(again) that he didn't create his own underground throne room? I mean if you're going to complain about lore and continuity, try to double check what's been going on. Pretty sure you'll be going through crypts and catacombs with plenty of sarcophagus along the way. The throne is a nice touch and a good indicator of a Boss room. The wizard abilities seem alright. The time thing seems to be a little tacked on(Mothership time bomb SC2 anyone?) but I think the game will still be fun.

First of all, the cathedral, DIDN'T HAVE BOTTOMLESS PITS! THE CATHEDRAL LOOKED SOMEWHAT BELIEVEABLE, jeezus christ blizzard wtf are you DOING to that game? Did anyone on the D3 team even PLAY the original game? Or are they too caught up in WoW to remember anything about it?

Leoric also used A HUGE BASTARD SWORD, and did NOT have a throne in his burial chamber to sit on. If they wanted to change things so badly, then why the fuck couldn't they keep it more in line with the series, and have his throne a maskshift throne of the remains of the villagers or SOMETHING more interesting (See: Butcher's room). He had a large sarcophagus btw, not a goddamned throne... I understand things get a little changed, but WTF? I swear, that Leoric scene looks like it's catering way too much to the WOTLK hopefuls, by both corny voiceover AND looks. The more they show of this game, the further down this game slides on my "must play" list. Did I mention it was at the TOP before they even revealed it?

Overall, the class is highly unoriginal--a real letdown--kinda hoped for something at least with a different name other than the standard "Wizard", (I thought when u make sequels, you progress, not step backwards). The class is boringly acrhtypical at best without anything that helps the character stand out, and leaves little room for any other "element-wielding" classes since this "wizard" seems to do everything seemingly well. Looks as if there's no point to have 5 classes when the first 3 have all u need (except for a ranged character, but honestly, 2 ranged casters are more than enough).

If I had 3 wishes, I could use all three on this game, and they STILL wouldn't be enough to fix this.

Let me just say that I'd rather Blizzard take liberties with continuity and "lore" when designing their new levels than to mindlessly ape the map layout from the first game. Second of all, if you look at the wizard page on the blizzard site you can see a mix of old and new in the wizards spell repertoire. You've got magic missile (new) and slow time (new but kind of like the amazon's slow missiles) and desintegrate (new and awesome) mixed in with chain lightning and teleport.

I just can't understand your outrage about this.

What makes me most hyped about the game is.. gameplay.
The cutscenes, the fact that the wizard seems to be in slow motion or floating sometimes, and her rock-solid face... yep, not as fluid or as good as some other games.

But doesn't matter to me. Because the gameplay still looks awesome!

Looks too much like a WC3 module(DotA) to my tastes. I wish they tried to keep the two more separate with Diablo being more of a story driven RPG instead of a top down view slaughterfest WC module. Compared to the two first games I get a really strong "budget game" feel when watching this.

The first two had interesting stories and well crafted cg story bits, but those were never ver essential to the game.

As of now the only difference between D2 sorceress and D3 wizard is that the wizard is asian,a silly version of meteor and a reflect spell.Oh that sure is a huge change.

Also gave me a bad Cabal online vibe.
And the freaking syncro of the skelleton wasnt cool.
The voice isnt even nearly gruff enough and the text is far too long.Something along the lines of"for breaking my rest you shall serve eternal" would have been far moodier.
Oh well whatever,we will see what comes.
