The 3DS XL add-on circle pad got its first public airing at this year’s Tokyo Game Show. I checked it out — and it was pretty good! Nintendo, however, didn’t give a release date for the peripheral. Until now.

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata can tell you when Nintendo would stop making its own handheld systems. He can tell you, hypothetically, when a line of machines that has gone from Game Boy to DS to 3DS would end and Nintendo’s games would appear on the hardware made by other companies instead.

New Super Mario Bros 2, the latest game in the Mario Brothers franchise was released in Japan on July 28th and already players are chugging away, gathering coins, coins, and more coins. One of the side objectives/achievements of the game is to collect a million coins, and it looks like hundreds of people have already hit the million mark.
