Akella’s City Of Abandoned Ships Pirated

Russian developer Akella are the closest thing gaming has to pirate specialists. They’ve got titles like Pirates of the Caribbean (Xbox), Age of Pirates, and Sea Dogs under their belts already, and they’ve just announced a new game for 2008, City of Abandoned Ships. It’s a pirate RPG that allows you to take the role of the pirates themselves or any of the usual suspects: England, France, Spain, or the Dutch. You’ll get ship=to=ship combat, meet historical figures, and explore land-based locations throughout the Caribbean. They’re so pirate they’ve even come up with a nifty anagram for their advancement system: P.I.R.A.T.E.S – Power, Impression, Reaction, Authority, Talent, Endurance and Success. They might be going a little overboard here, but years at sea will do that to you. City of Abandoned Ships is due in the first quarter of 2008, most likely for the PC.

We Can’t Freaking Wait To Teabag Hitler

We’ve gotten sick of the ‘historically accurate’ sales pitch that’s come standard in every WWII shooter released over the last fifteen years. We get it already, that European street with the impossible to find snipers is just like the real thing. It’s neat, but often does little for larger gameplay. But in Akella’s upcoming Hitler assassination adventure A Stroke of Fate (PC we believe), this historical accuracy will have huge impacts on gameplay.

We pay a lot of attention to the historical authenticity in the project. We involved a historical consultant to keep an eye on the authenticity of events and various features of the game. Thus we’re specific to many interesting facts relevant to that epoch: Hitler’s security system that applied multiple gadgets – sensitive microphones to detect timing devices and a great number of impersonators, as well as schemes and layouts of Hitler’s private bunker.

Postal 3 Web Page Is Live, Offensive

Postal 3 developer has launched a Postal 3 section on their website, featuring game information and screens that I will post here so you don’t really have to visit the page at all. Running With Scissors and the Postal franchise have a long-running tradition of being as offensive as they can be without…well without nothing. Just offensive. Take the ‘disclaimer’ at the bottom of the page, for instance. POSTAL III is not intended for politicians, your mum, your little sister, or the priest molesting her. It is a game about free will. Violence begets violence and the choice is yours.
