We’ve given you the site’s most popular videos, features and reporting, but what single story was the most read on Kotaku in 2008. And which story elicited the most comments?
We’ve reached the podium positions on the countdown of my favourite games of 2008. At number three we take on the inevitable zombie apocalypse…
Continuing my personal picks of the best of 2008, at number four we find Sega’s heartfelt reinvention of the strategy RPG…

I’ll hand this one over to Gary Busey.
When the year began, this was the game I was most looking forward to playing. So for it to appear in my Game of the Year list is hardly surprisingly, although its final ranking is perhaps ultimately a disappointment. To me, Bethesda’s reinvention of the Black Isle classic is a glorious failure.
And at number eight in my personal picks for 2008 we find some old-school dungeon-crawling, courtesy of Atlus. I’m pretty sure this game got more play on my DS than every other handheld game combined…
My countdown of my own personal picks of 2008′s best continues with perhaps the most adorable game of the year at number nine.
I love lists. Actually, I love reading other people’s lists; I hate coming up with my own. Game Of The Year lists are the worst. Comparing the merits of such a diverse range of games is hard enough – how does one reasonably assess that multiplayer-focused FPS against that quirky 2D platformer? But to do so when all the games under consideration are genuinely great is… well, frankly, it’s my job. So I’ve put together my personal top ten for the year and will be revealing them two per day all this week. What’s at #10?
