Media Molecule Apparently Reconsiders on LBP Beta User Levels

Posted by Owen Good at 5:30 AM on October 12, 2008

1Up's reporting from TGS that Media Molecule cofounder Alex Evans hisself "let slip" that all those awesome LittleBigPlanet beta user-created levels we've been seeing will in fact make the transition into the full final game. This countermands MM's Leo Cubbin, who two weeks ago said they wouldn't.

LittleBigPlanet: To Wipe, Or Not To Wipe

Posted by Mike Fahey at 4:40 PM on October 9, 2008

We've seen some pretty amazing things come out of the LittleBigPlanet beta test so far, including yesterday's amazing calculating sack boy squad. Wouldn't it be a pity to lose all of that goodness in the name of making sure everyone was on level footing for launch? Right now the LittleBigPlanet news site is hosting a poll asking players both in and out of beta whether or not the user created content created so far should be completely flushed down the toilet once the game launches.

LBP Beta Levels Won't Work In Finished Game

Posted by Stuart Houghton at 8:20 AM on September 27, 2008

If you have been lucky enough to play with a LittleBigPlanet beta and have knocked up a good-looking level, make sure you sketch it on the back of an envelope or something.

Media Molecule's Leo Cubbin confirmed to fan site LittleBigMadness that none of the lovingly crafted beta levels will be importable into the finished game, not even that amazing Shadow Of The Colossus one the other day.

Gone, finished, useless. Kaput. Like tears in rain, and all that.

25,000 LittleBigPlanet Beta Keys To Flood The Internet

Posted by Michael McWhertor at 7:40 AM on September 26, 2008

Want to get your hands on LittleBigPlanet early? 25,000 of you will, as SCEA and developer Media Molecule are readying beta code giveaways this week across various sites. You may remember that Eurogamer blew through a few thousand yesterday, but both GameSpot and Gamepro are currently in the throes of giving away gobs of keys. Even some smaller sites that might not be on your rotation, like 2old2play, are giving away the goods. Go on, get some!

Blackshot FPS Enters Closed Beta - Screens Ahoy!

Posted by Stuart Houghton at 6:20 AM on September 26, 2008

Outspark has launched a closed PC Beta of its free-to-play online FPS Blackshot. The beta is open from September 30th until October 5th and features 4 selectable characters, 7 maps and 17 different weapons.

Outspark have sent us a load of screenshots showing off the mercenary-based online antics. It does, it has to be said, look fairly generic - but it is free and as ever with shooters the proof of the pudding is in the gameplay.

You can sign up for the closed beta via the game's website. If you don't get in, remain calm - it will be followed by an open beta later in the year.

The Chronicles Of Spellborn Finally Gets A Release Date

Posted by Mike Fahey at 1:40 AM on September 20, 2008

It's about damn time. The decidedly different MMO Chronicles of Spellborn, which I had to fly to Germany to finally get my hands on, finally has a release date...in Germany and the rest of Europe at least. Delivered with this preliminary packshot was news that November 27th would be the fateful date when the game finally sees the light of fluorescent retail store bulbs. They'll be ramping up things on the beta front over the coming weeks, so now would be a pretty good time to hit up the web page and register, just in case you care to get a taste.

Great! Now when are we getting it in the states? I'm not flying to Germany again until I finish digesting all the sausage I ate last time, and that was a total sausagefest that will rest heavily on my stomach for quite some time.

PS Home Beta Drops Video Sharing

Posted by Stuart Houghton at 8:20 AM on September 18, 2008

Sony have confirmed that the video sharing features have been dropped from the PlayStation Home beta.

In retrospect, the idea of any kind of multimedia sharing from the copyright-wary Sony was always looking a bit wobbly, but it is unclear if the decision was made on technical or IP rights grounds. Home users were meant to be able to invite other gamers to their virtual space and watch videos together - possibly while eating virtual Pringles.

Sony were unable to confirm if the feature is gone for ever, or if it will be returning in the final release.
