MGS4 Bundle Coming to Europe? And Before Easter?
4:20AM Mark Wilson | According to an interview with MeriStation.com, Europe Sony VP James Armstrong made a major announcement over a possible Sony/Konami bundle that just might have something to do with the most anticipated PS3 game in the short history of the platform. Here’s the quote from the Spanish site, autotranslated roughly: I am going to advance something to you; yes, we are working in pack of PlayStation 3 that includes Metal Gear 4 Solid and the new DualShock. We want that it is in the street before Easter and that is our fight at the moment. An MGS4 bundle sounds like an absolutely wonderful and completely obvious way to sell some PS3s. But isn’t it an odd circumstance when we’ve heard so many differing viewpoints from so many differing Sony execs for so long that we don’t believe it until the information is on press release? Mole Reports New 360 Bundle, New Core System
11:20PM Luke Plunkett | Ars Technica’s gaming site, Opposable Thumbs, has a mole. A somewhat reliable one, too, unlike ours, which just digs half-finished holes in the yard and drinks itself into a stupor every day. Its latest report: that there’ll be two new 360s for the Christmas holidays. The first is a somewhat uninspiring bundle, featuring Forza 2 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance in a single box (like the old Jet Set/GT bundle on the first Xbox). Both the Premium and Elite will see this bundle. The second is a brand new Core model, which features HDMI, a wireless controller, 256MB memory card and five XBLA arcade games (Boom-Boom Rocket, Pac-man, Uno, Feeding Frenzy, and Luxor 2) on a disc. That second one sound familiar? That’s because we’ve heard the exact same thing. So keep a grain of salt or two handy for the first one, but the second, I’d say it’s inching very close to confirmation/announcement time. Brain Age 2 DS Bundle Official
2:43PM Kotaku US Edition | Nintendo just issued a press release confirming something we heard about back on July 23rd from about gajillion online retailers, but it is always good to see official word. Brain Age 2: More Training In Minutes A Day is coming bundled with a special crimson and black Nintendo DS. The bundle should start showing up on store shelves on August 21st at a suggested retail price of $US149.99. From the description on the official press release: The top half of the new Nintendo DS sports a smooth, glossy Crimson, reminiscent of a dangerous shade of lipstick or a cherry-red sports car. The bottom is a matte black – an Onyx yin that complements the Crimson yang. I only point this out because Onyx Yin and the Crimson Yang would make an awesome comic book / rap duo. Elite 360/HD-DVD Bundle On Amazon
8:00AM Flynn De Marco | Well, it seems the bundles are just coming out of the woodwork today, but this one you can actually grab right now. Amazon is currently offering a pretty decent package for a great price. The offer includes an Xbox 360 Elite System, the HD DVD player, a copy of both King Kong and 300 (HD DVD versions of course) for $US599. Plus as an added bonus, a separate mail-in offer will net you another five HD-DVDs for free. Of course the selection is terrible, but you can always sell them I suppose. Considering the cost of the Elite and the player alone come to $US630 this is a pretty sweet deal when you add the 2 free movies, the mail in offer and free shipping. Who could ask for anything more? Well, maybe you could ask, but I doubt you’d get it. Xbox 360 High-Def Bundle [Amazon] [via Destructoid] More »
New 360 Double Game Bundles Discovered
1:00AM Flynn De Marco | Yesterday I got an email from a fellow who said he had found an image of a holiday bundle for the 360 and as there wasn’t much more information available, I put on my Sherlock Holmes hat and got to work. After some rummaging about, I was able to turn up not only the Elite Bundle, but one for the Pro system as well marked as eventually being available in the US. The bundle will include the system and it’s accessories plus two games, Forza 2 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance. These images were discovered on a website Microsoft uses to market their products and while there was no pricing information available, the Elite image was clearly marked as “Xbox 360 Elite Holiday Value Bundle.” Judging by the name, one can assume that this will be the Xbox’s bundles available for the upcoming Thanksgiving/Christmas shopping season. Unless of course they are saving it for Flag Day, which means we won’t see it till spring of next year. Chacun son pack [Gamick] More »
Free Copy Of Top Spin With 360
8:36AM Brian Crecente | We’ve been calling around a number of stores today to try and get to the bottom of a bunch of rumours including that the Xbox 360 premium and core now have HDMI built-in, and while we haven’t gotten to the bottom of that rumour, yet, we have nailed down something else: The Xbox 360 Top Spin Bundle is real, and it’s already available at a number of stores. At least a half-dozen stores have confirmed that Top Spin will be included with the Xbox 360 premium starting on Sunday, and four of the stores we’ve called so far say that they’re already on the floor available for sale for $US350. So if you’ve been on the fence about buying a 360 and want a free game, this could be your time to shine. More »PS3 80GB On Sale Now, 60GB Going, Going…
9:10AM Brian Crecente | Sony Computer Entertainment of America reminds us that today’s the day you should be able to walk into a store and pick up the new 80GB Playstation 3, complete with a copy of MotorStorm. The $US600 PS3 seems like a decent deal to those who have been on the fence about buying the console, what with the larger harddrive and a free copy of a relatively solid game. Of course you could just buy the 60GB version for $US100 less and then buy the game of your choice and have money left over to put toward upgrading the PS3’s harddrive on your own, a relatively simple endeavour. Sony points out that they expect to be sold out of the 60GB version by this spring, based on current consumer demand. Hit the jump for the full press release, with a remind of all of the cool games coming to the PS3 in the near future including Heavenly Sword, Folklore and Uncharted. More »
