Meet Capcom's Crowd Ranchers

Posted by Luke Plunkett at 5:00 PM on October 12, 2008

As we showed you yesterday, Capcom's booth at TGS has been going bananas. So much so that they've got booth boys running a unique form of crowd control. In case you can't make it out, the kid's holding a long, thick rope. And there are 15 more kids like him. They're crowd ranchers. As I took this, I could swear I heard a "YAH!", and the crack of a whip, as 1000 wide-eyed Japanese teenagers were herded - by the shuffling rope boys - into a pen and forced to watch Monster Hunter 3 trailers over and over and over.

Street Fighter IV Booth Punches The Competition In The Face

Posted by Luke Plunkett at 9:30 AM on October 12, 2008

Man, Capcom are pulling out all the stops with their booths this year. We've already shown you the Gyakuten Kenji setup, but equally amazing is the company's Street Fighter IV booth, which is a replica of Chun-Li's stage. It's even got a chicken. Great stuff.

Resident Evil 5 Producer Likes New Controls Better

Posted by Brian Ashcraft at 12:30 AM on October 12, 2008

In hopes to pleasing all of the people (or at least some of them), Capcom is offering not just one, but two Resident Evil 5 control schemes. RE5 producer Jun Takeuchi confirmed to Kotaku in early September that the game would be getting a new input layout. While we had heard that the new controls would be run-and-gun in the vein of a standard shooter. The new scheme does have shooter layout elements, but it's still run/walk, stop, shoot.

Square Enix, Capcom Booths Are A Teeming Mass Of Humanity

Posted by Luke Plunkett at 8:00 PM on October 11, 2008

There's no question about what's most popular amongst the locals here at TGS. It's not even close. Seems every single person is here for one of two things. Or, hell, probably both. They're here for the Square Enix, and they're here for Capcom.

Resident Evil 5 Co-Op Changes The Game

Posted by Luke Plunkett at 2:00 PM on October 11, 2008

Taking advantage of our early entry onto the TGS showroom floor this morning, Mike and myself popped over to Sony's booth to play a little Resident Evil 5 co-op. Mike got Chris and a shotgun, I got Sheva and a handgun/sniper rifle, we both got dropped into some African marketplace and had to kill a whole load of zombies. Oh, sorry Capcom PR guy: infected. So, how'd we go?

More Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop Screens

Posted by Adam Barenblat at 7:00 AM on October 11, 2008

Well, Crecente and crew over at TGS got their hands on the game yesterday and Luke was less than impressed. Amanda last week had pretty much the same reaction. So if it's true the game is nearly finished, without bashing it any further we have a pretty good idea of what to expect come time for release. Meanwhile we got some new screens of Dead Rising's appearance on the Wii direct from TGS. But hey, cheer up. One of the screens features the Megaman costume - how can you go wrong with that? sigh

A New Street Fighter IV Trailer Has A Little Bit of Everything

Posted by Adam Barenblat at 4:00 AM on October 11, 2008

Face it, TGS is like a huge magnet when it comes to attracting great trailers. So when it came time for Street Fighter IV to take the stage it was no surprise that the trailer wasn't anything less than awesome. There's all sort of eye candy in this one from gameplay footage to the brush art sequences we've come to know and love. Or maybe you're into Street Fighter anime, no problem it's got that too. So don't feel bad if you want to stick around for repeated viewings.

Bionic Commando Movie Is A Definite Possibility

Posted by Luke Plunkett at 1:40 AM on October 11, 2008

Yup. Not a possible possibility. A definite possibility. Anyway, Capcom are good at two things. Making games, then exploiting the crap out of those games when they're done. So with Bionic Commando just about done, I figured I'd ask Ben Judd whether Capcom were planning on exploiting the crap out of Bionic Commando. Cartoons, movies, that sort of thing.

New Monster Hunter 3 Screens

Posted by Adam Barenblat at 10:20 PM on October 10, 2008

Yes, it can use the classic controller and remember, this is for the Wii. You would almost forget looking at these screens. Monster Hunter 3 (tri) is one of the most visually appealing Wii games yet. The game is playable at TGS, if you're willing to wait in line. As for the rest of us, we'll just enjoy these screens for now.

Dead Rising Wii Is A Terrible, Terrible Idea

Posted by Luke Plunkett at 7:00 PM on October 10, 2008

I just spent some time playing Dead Rising on the Wii. Waiting in line, I was treated to one of the game's new additions: a new movie (you know, like the one that played if you left the title screen inactive on the 360 version). It was a zombie hardcore band, rocking out in front of a zombie hardcore crowd, like a music video. It was funny, I enjoyed it. Then I went inside and started playing. Things went downhill from there.
