In 2004 billions of files were uploaded onto the internet, destined to be forgotten. As these files drowned under each other, one small game created by a Japanese office worker crawled out from the swirling pool of images, text, music, and cat memes to become something of a phenomenon. The game was Cave Story, and this is the Cave Story story.
From NIS America and original developer Nicalis comes Cave Story 3D, a game that graphically overhauls a title that really needed no graphical overhaul. How’d that work out? Let’s take a quick look.
I continue to find myself looking forward to Cave Story 3D on the 3DS — something about the game’s look seems like it will really lend itself to both portable play and to the 3DS’s screen (and hopefully, controls). In fact, I might just be looking forward to this game more than any other upcoming 3DS title except perhaps for Super Mario 3D Land.
