If you’re stuck in the queue waiting to get your hands on the Command & Conquer 4 beta, you could always kill a minute or two looking at these new screens for the game.
In answer to McWhertor’s question from yesterday afternoon, yes. EA has just announced Command & Conquer 4, the dramatic conclusion to the Tiberium saga.
EA has announced the live-action cast of the Command & Conquer Red Alert 3: Uprising expansion, adding in a little ultra-violence, a bit of unfortunate anime adaptation, and a whole lot of Flair.
First person shooters may be a dime a dozen, but Tiberium, the subject of recent Game Informer and GT TV exclusives has something we’re nerding out over—a transforming gun. It doesn’t magically transition into a twenty foot-tall robot a la Decepticon leader Megatron, but it does make for some geeky chills amongst an otherwise “me too” shooter set in the Command & Conquer universe. Maybe we’re just jaded, as the air drops and squad tactics actually sound super neat-o, and it may just be the rather dreary look and feel that’s a bit of a turn off.
For anyone who missed the debut episode of the Geoff Keigheley hosted television show, it can be viewed in its streamed high-definition glory at GameTrailers.

Those outside of the most die-hard C&C fanboy circles may not remember, but a few years back, Westwood tried their hand at a Command & Conquer FPS. It was called Renegade. It sucked. So they’re trying again, the latest issue of Game Informer revealing that EA are at work on Tiberium, a squad-based shooter that sounds a lot like GRAW, just with C&C units instead of Mexicans. That’s about all we know at the moment, but rest assured EA will be milking the prospect for all its worth in the coming months, so sit tight.
I’d say a good 25% of the fun in Command & Conquer is watching washed-up and rising stars interact on the small, digitally enhanced screen as Joe Kucan eats computer-generated scenery as Kane. Now, two more actors join the cast with the upcoming expansion to the third game, Command & Conquer 3: Kane’s Wrath. Sci-fi wet dream Natasha Henstridge from the Species films brings more sexy to the C&C universe, while Carl Lumbly adds another level of geek coolness to the proceedings. Lumbly played Marcus Dixon on Alias, though I am much more familiar with his work as the voice of J’onn J’onzz, the Martian Manhunter, on the Justice League cartoon. Along with Kane, their characters will be the central focus of the expansion, which follows the rebirth of the Brotherhood of Nod after the second game to beyond the third. My comparison continues to hold true: C&C is to actors as Six Flags is to rock bands – you’re either on your way up or on your way out.
