Wow. We did not see that one coming. When I first laid my fragile virgin eyes upon Splatterhouse at E3 my first thought was, “there’s no way in the bluest of blue hells we’ll get that past the classification board”. But here it is, in all its glory, with an MA15+ rating. Good times. This game actually features a fair amount of violence, so we’re guessing Namco Bandai did a pretty decent job of explaining why said gore is contextual!
This week, Disney gets Epic Mickey’s PG rating, and DC Universe Online grabs an M just as it’s announced we’ll be seeing it in early 2011. Echochrome 2, the M.C. Escher puzzler, is on the way, joining a strong stable of G and PG representatives.
God of War: Ghost of Sparta sneaks past our rating system with a grin on its face this week, bringing more beheadings to our PSPs, while Blacklight: Tango Down acquires a similar MA15+ rating, promising us digitally distributed disintegration.
Another strong week if you’re of the “G” and “PG” persuasion, but there are one or two interesting titles poking their heads out…
Alien Breed: Impact has had lonely time on the PC. Half price Steam sales haven’t been able to fight back the tide of popularity enjoyed by Valve’s own Alien Swarm, which offers a superior co-op alien burninating romp for the delightful price of free. But it looks like the Alien Breed hasn’t been quelled yet…
