An update to the official Japanese Super Street Fighter IV blog teases a new character reveal for Super Street Fighter IV next week. Who could possibly be the source of Chun-Li’s pain?

Capcom US posted a link to the Japanese site today with the headline “New Super Street Fighter IV Art and… A New Challenger?”, leading us to believe that’s exactly what Nakky is talking about. According to a translation of the post by Azrael from the Shoryuken forums, the post teases big news that will also be appearing in next week’s issue of Japanese video game publication Famitsu, with a promotional video going up on the Capcom site around the same time.

Yes, it’s an announcement of an announcement, but at least we have a nice picture to dissect between now and next week.

No, no, not Street Fighter character Chun-Li in standard blue. Classic, but typical! The outfit that Japanese figure maker MERSA dresses her in is anything but that, after the jump.

Spotted at big-time figure event Hobboy Complex 07 earlier this month in Tokyo. All kinds of fantastic.

“I think the most obvious differences lie in the physical appearance of the character”, she says in a video interview (link below). “I dont’ look like Chun-Li physically…I just…don’t“, she continues, as she gestures – perhaps out of frustration, perhaps out of longing – at her slender frame.

It’s OK, Kristen. Don’t be angry with your tiny thighs. Few women are blessed with those as mighty as those Chun Li can boast. Don’t feel bad.

And she doesn’t! Instead, she revels in her role as the prettiest Chun-Li to date, combining the Famitsu interview with a Chun-Li-themed Famitsu fashion shoot that’s about as threatening and violent as a puppy eating a cold bowl of porridge.
