Sid Meier Appearing At New York Comic Con

The New York Comic Con might as well be called the New York Video Game Con - Now With Comics for all of the gaming goodness that's going on over the weekend. Various publishers and developers will be on hand to show off their wares, most notably the living legend himself, Mr. Sid Meier. Sid will be at the 2K Games Booth (#1157) on Saturday, April 19, from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM, to meet fans, sign autographs, and just generally be Sidly. 2K will be showing off Civilization Revolutions throughout the entire weekend, though you might want to stop by early to get your hands on one of the limited edition prints created in collaboration with Studio Number-One and Shepard Fairey they'll have available. Seriously, I would seriously maim someone if it meant I could be there this weekend, so those of you with the means owe it to me to go in my stead. Off with you!

Shepard Fairey Civ Rev Poster Is Pretty Great

Definitely one of the classier attempts at game PR we've seen. 2K have commissioned Shepard Fairey to come up with a series of promo posters for the upcoming Civilization Revolution. There's "more to come", with the first featuring none other than the little Corsican himself, shaking his finger during a pronounced bout of little-man syndrome. If wallpapers of former French dictators sounds right up your alley, click for a bigger version.

Civilization Revolution Faceplate Competition Is On!

civrev_faceplate.jpgI may have mentioned something about a Civilization: Revolution giveaway. Scratch that, I did mention something about it.

I'm happy to say 2K Games has given us the go ahead and provided four limited edition Xbox 360 faceplates to pass on to you guys. Of course, there's a competition involved.

All you have to do to be in the running is email tips@kotaku.com.au with your idea for a new Sid Meier game. For example:

Sid Meier's Clowns!: Compete online with up to 16 other freakishly dressed entertainers as you all try to fit into the same tiny car. Upgrade you selection of makeups and wigs as you progress through the game, and learn many fun and exciting skills including juggling, tightrope walking and kid scaring!
Make sure the subject reads "Civ comp" and your explanation is no more than 50 words. Oh, and it can't be as lame as my idea.

General terms and condition will appear shortly. For now, feel free to enter as many times as you want. We'll select the four lucky winners this time next week.

Thanks to 2K Games for the faceplates, I'm sure we can find them a nice home.

Hands On With Civilization Revolution Multiplayer

Last Friday I headed down to the glamorous Hotel Monaco to check out some of the multiplayer functions of Sid Meir's newest addition to the Civilization franchise, Civilization Revolution. I had seen it previously at E3 and E for All but neither had really shown off the multiplayer functions of the game which is what this viewing was all about.

Civilization Revolution Xbox 360 Faceplate Has Famous People On It

civrev_faceplate.jpgWell, caricatures of famous people, but you can easily recognise them as Napoleon, Cleopatra and my dad.

I received this pleasant treat at a hands-on multiplayer preview of Civilization Revolution held today. Unfortunately I can't say much more about the preview as there's an embargo until the 10th, but be sure to tune in then for all the details.

I'm trying to organise a giveaway - just waiting for confirmation from 2K Games. There's also one more nice Civilization Revolution surprise to be revealed, and I'm hoping I can swing that today. A hint: It has to do with puppets.

Civilization Revolution For Australia & NZ Dated

civrev2.jpgLast week, 2K Games announced the US release date for Civilization Revolution on Xbox 360, PS3 and DS. In case you missed it, it was June 3.

So, should Australia and New Zealand expect a mammoth release delay? No, not at all! The local 2K Games branch has informed us that Oceania will receive the game just a few days after the US on June 6. that's plenty of time to, say, read some hands-on impressions.

Now, if only all games could be released in all regions within days of each other...

More Civilization Revolution DS Shots

civrevds_0.jpgEarly last week we got our first look at Firaxis' upcoming turn-based strategy title Civilization Revolution for DS. Now, 2K Games has sent through a fresh batch of screenshots for your viewing pleasure. Though I have to admit, I took some joy in viewing them as well. Hope I didn't steal away too much excitement.

Shot #1 can be seen to the left (tada!) and five more await you after the jump.
