A lot has changed since the days when web developers relied almost exclusively on Flash for media-rich interactive content. Although the technology is still very much alive and may not see a replacement anytime soon for certain uses, more and more websites are implementing HTML5 for streaming audio and video, and we are also starting to see some applications in the gaming space.
EA isn’t just making a 2013 Command & Conquer game under the BioWare umbrella. They’re making a free game, an “all new free-to-play MMO strategy game” called Command & Conquer Tiberium Alliances according to a press release today.
If Command & Conquer: Generals 2 is really a BioWare game (and it is, right?), then we should care about its story. Storytelling in video games, after all, is a BioWare hallmark.
In saying the next Command & Conquer game is coming from “BioWare”, it seems EA is hoping a little of gamer’s good will towards the RPG powerhouse will rub off on the game. Instead, unless Generals 2 is amazing, it’s probably going to backfire.
