Regular Live users will know there’s an Events section on the 360 dashboard. There you’ll find regular Community Playdates, giving you the opportunity to get online with a whole bunch of other Australians for some (hopefully) lag-free online gaming.

I’m about to book in a Playdate for Kotaku readers, scheduled for August 7. But I wanna know what game you want to play.

Your choices are:

* FIFA 09
* Gears of War 2
* Street Fighter IV
* Worms 2

Vote for one of these in the comments below and we’ll do this democratically.

To participate in the playdate, just send a friend request to “KotakuAUST” and use the friends of friends feature to find other Kotaku readers.

It’s just to help you hook up with the Kotaku community.)

Xbox 360 owners should grab it and start training for the first ever Kotaku hosted Xbox Live Community Playdate. Scheduled for the night of June 12, the Community Playdate is an opportunity for Kotaku readers to get together for some Aussie-only Red Faction: Guerrilla multiplayer shenanigans. More details on that soon.

For now, here are some details on the multiplayer demo hitting in just a few hours:

The Red Faction: Guerrilla multi-player demo features Damage Control, a capture-and-hold point-based mode, that utilises the GeoMod 2.0 Destruction Engine to offer an exciting new twist to a traditional gameplay mode. Gamers are split into two teams as they battle over three targets on the map. To capture an enemy point, a team must destroy the target by any means necessary and rebuild it with the Reconstructor device. The team that controls the most targets will earn more points and win the game. The multiplayer demo features nine futuristic weapons, five backpacks, and is available <del datetime="2009-05-21T06:04:08+00:00">now</del> at 9pm EST for free download on Xbox LIVE online entertainment network	and PlayStation Network.

Xbox 360 owners may have noticed the arrival last week of a new dashboard channel for Events. In addition to highlighting game launches – see Halo Wars above – it also acts as a call-out to Aussie gamers to jump online for a series of Community Playdates. We’ll be organising one of these playdates and want to hear your suggestions for what game to play.

The idea behind Community Playdates is to provide a focal point for Aussie gamers. If we’re all getting online for the same game at the same time, then it should alleviate the lag issues that we so often experience when joining games hosted overseas. The theory follows that it’s also a good way to meet local gamers and add them to your friends list.

We’ll be getting in on the act soon. But we want to know what game you’d all like to play. Leave your suggestions in the comments below and stay tuned for the first Kotaku Community Playdate in the coming weeks.
