What’s the best way to promote a violent video game about a cop who beats up hobos? Make a Flash website with ponies, flowers, butterflies and clowns of course!

Sega’s Condemned 2 certainly doesn’t contain any of the entities I just mentioned, so what’s the connection? Why not click on a few things and find out for yourself? You know, if you can handle all the green fields and rainbows.

Condemned 2: Bloodshot Review: Skid Row’s Greatest Hits

6:00AM March 18, 2008 | Michael McWhertor

Sega and Monolith bring first-person serial killer hunting fun back to consoles in Condemned 2: Bloodshot. Anti-hero cop Ethan Thomas is back on the streets—literally, he’s pretty much a homeless drunk—and ready to punch out droves of insane bums, vagrants and derelicts. The star of Condemned: Criminal Origins returns filthier and boozier than before, this time as an overly grizzled ex-member of the Special Crimes Unit. New Condemned 2 Screens

9:00AM March 9, 2008 | Brian Crecente

Condemned 2: Bloodshot has sort of snuck up on me. Did you realise it’s hitting next week? Tuesday in fact. I really loved the first game, so I have pretty high expectations for the second and with all of the time Sega has had to work with the 360 and PS3 it should really shine.

Here’s a slew of new 360 screens. Hit the jump to check out the PS3 screens. Both sets provided by Sega.

Condemned 2 Voice-Over Sessions

As a guy who dreams of one day doing work in the field of voice acting, clips like this always tickle me to no end. In a way I suppose it ruins the mystery – you never would have figured MadTV’s Phil Lamarr as the voice of LeRue – but then the truest test of voice work is having it blend with the action so well that you don’t picture these people in your head as you play. Condemned 2 Is Pretty Damned Brutal

5:20AM February 9, 2008 | Mike Fahey

newVideoPlayer("con2_gawker.flv", 475, 287,""); Condemned 2 lead designer Frank Rook walks us through the changes made to the Condemned series in the second installment, Condemned 2: Bloodshot. He talks a lot about the combat system, which introduces fist fighting, combos, brutal chain attacks and environmental finishing moves similar to those found in The Punisher video game a few years back. It was hard to pay attention because I was just overwhelmed by the sheer brutality of the whole thing. The shaking camera and the sounds combine to make combat so visceral that even this tiny trailer had me wincing sympathetically. Rook also goes into the welcome changes to the forensics portion of the game, which was probably my biggest disappointment from the first one. They want to improve over the original in every way, and it looks like they are right on course to do so. More »
