Carmageddon‘s official site is displaying a countdown that will reach zero early the morning of June 1. The site is registered to Square-Enix, the series’ owner (acquiring it with Eidos). The series’ last release came in 2000; a Carmageddon 4 had been rumoured in 2005 but was put on hold indefinitely.
As much as I hate getting drawn into video game ‘countdown’ announcements, I just can’t help myself. This one, found on the Namco Bandai Japanese website, is rumoured to be for the new Soul Calibur game.
The Valve-owned domain aperturescience.com tossed up a countdown whose timer expires at 11am EDT/8am PDT tomorrow (1am AEST). Rumours, abetted by easter eggs, have hinted that the game is arriving a week ahead of its announced April 19 date. Hey, it’s either that or Half Life 2: Episode 3.

Two countdown clocks are up on Japanese developer web sites, both pointing to something being announced around Friday. One looks like Zelda, the other Mario-ish.
