Free Crysis 2 Modkit Arrives In Early Summer

A modding toolkit for Crysis 2 will release in early summer, Crytek said today in an announcement. If that’s not enough freedom for you, the CryENGINE SDK releases to developers in August. The Crysis 2 modkit will be free, the company’s CEO said. More »

CryENGINE 2 Does Bouncing Balls Better Than Commercials Do

Poor CryENGINE 2. It didn’t get enough hugs as a child, and now it’s got some serious insecurity issues. It’s always trying to show us how much better it is than real life. Trees, shacks, whatever, if it’s real, CryENGINE 2 wants us to know that it can’t just do real, it can do real better than real. Latest example: that Bravia commercial with the bouncing balls. CryENGINE 2 can so do that.

CryEngine 2 Shown on PS3, 360 at GDC

Crytek GnbH will be showing off their CryENGINE 2 and Sandbox 2 game editor on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 at this year’s Game Developers Conference.

The company will also be showing how a computer that can be made for less than $US 600 can run their fully-optimised engine. I suspect that might, just might be because of their PC-crushing game Crysis. It will be interested to find out what sort of tweaks they did to the engine to get it to run on the 360 and PS3, and more importantly if they tweaked each version differently to help play to their individual strong suits.
