THQ has announced a new release window for their fantasy action sequel on the newly launched official site for Darksiders II. Previously announced for a June 26 launch, the game is now due out sometime in August, with exact dates varying by region.
The first Darksiders won a loyal following of fans for its badass remix of the Legend of Zelda’s dungeon-crawling gameplay. But you couldn’t really differentiate the way that main character War played. He was a bruiser with weapons that worked the same way for everyone. But Death will be more individualized, once players get their hands on the new lead character.
The June release date for Darksiders II has been narrowed down to a specific day via the game’s official Twitter. Expect Death and the pale horse he rode in on June 26.
Death and his pal War team-up to save the day this year in Darksiders: The Abomination Vault, a series prequel that takes place a millenia before the opening credits of the first game.
In Vigil games’ upcoming Darksiders II, players assume the mantle of Death, who is pretty much the only “personified supernatural force” more badass than War, the protagonist of the first game. The video above demonstrates gameplay from the early chapters of the game, showcasing Death’s lighter move-set and quicker combat abilities.
In between all the talking there’s quite a bit of gameplay footage here of the upcoming Darksiders II.
I wasn’t the biggest fan of the first Darksiders game, but even I’ll admit, that’s a pretty snappy tagline for its sequel.
