Fuel Your Preconceptions With This Deus Ex 3 Concept Art
5:30PM Luke Plunkett | Thanks to the Viking warriors at Gamereactor, we have our first good look at how Deus Ex 3 is shaping up. Not the game itself, mind you, it’s far too early for that kind of business, but this concept art should at least give you an idea of the tone Ubisoft are shooting for. First thing we noticed? There’s sunshine! Second thing? Somebody’s been watching a lot of Blade Runner. More »Deus Ex 3 Guy Says Deus Ex 1 Was ‘Kinda Slow’
10:20PM Luke Plunkett | Deus Ex 1 was a masterpiece. Deus Ex 2 deviated from Deus Ex 1’s formula, and failed as a result. So what’s Deus Ex 3 going to be like? Well it sounds like it’s going to be faster, for one, with lead game designer Jean-Francois Dugas telling Edge the first Deus Ex was “kinda slow”. More »
More Deus Ex 3 Details Emerge
6:00AM Owen Good | Well, looks like PC Zone was saving up its 200th issue for Deus Ex. It’s the cover story in the latest edition, which has already landed in subscribers’ mailboxes and hits newsstands on Oct. 9. The writeup also features the first screenshots of the game, which CVG scanned and uploaded (above). “Deus Ex 3’s vision of the future sees holographic screens flicker atop ferries moving back and forth in front of the Shanghai skyline, now split into two layers with the rich on the top and the poor in perpetual twilight below,” says PC Zone. The preview says Eidos Montreal promised a “powerful, layered” plot for the game, a prequel set in 2027. Eidos also said it’s mindful of reaction to the second game in the series and promises that its mistakes won’t be repeated. If you’re not a subscriber, CVG has written up a pretty good digest of its high points. Deus Ex 3: First Details [CVG] More »PC Zone To Expose Deus Ex 3 Conspiracy?
8:20AM Stuart Houghton | Things have been a bit quiet on the Deus Ex 3 front, but the news that the original game was to be made available for free from Gametap seemed to suggest that something was coming down the pipe. If this blurry, phonecam-quality picture is the real thing, UK games mag PC Zone will be lifting the lid on the game in its 200th issue, out later this month. The photo popped up on the Gaming Age (NeoGAF) forums and it certainly looks like the right typeface. The issue is on sale on October 9th, so there is plenty of time for the whole story to leak out before you actually have to buy the thing. Spector Only Has Three to Five Games Left In Him
6:00AM Brian Crecente | Sounds like famed game developer Warren Spector is winding down. In a recent interview with Eurogamer he bemoaned the amount of energy it takes to make games these days and said he probably only has three to five left in him before he shuffles off this mortal coil. “Game development requires an intense amount of energy,” Spector, who is 52 years old, told Eurogamer in an interview published today. “It requires a level of focus and dedication and belief and confidence and time. What it means, in an ideal world, I may work on five more games in my entire life. More likely probably three given how long they take.” Spector went on to cast doubts on Deus Ex 3, saying that he hasn’t yet spoken to Eidos Montreal about the game and that he’s concerned about how it’s going to turn out because it’s a “delicate” game style. Sounds like someone gets grumpy during the holidays. Warren Spector may only work on three more games ever [Eurogamer] More »
Deus Ex 3 Is *Years* Away
5:28PM Luke Plunkett | You excited about Deus Ex 3? I am. Makes it easier to forget the “sequel”! But while it’s exciting to know the game’s confirmed and is being worked on as you breathe, it’s less exciting to onsider how long you’ll be waiting to get your hands on the game. Speaking with 1UP, Eidos Montreal general manager Stephane D’Astous has said it’ll take at least 24 months to get the thing finished. Which means you won’t see it until at least late 2009. Do try and keep busy between now and then, because a watched pot never boils. What’s the Deal with Deus Ex 3? [1UP] [Image] More »
