Disgaea Infinite To Hit North American PSPs In May

NIS America’s latest Prinny Bomb communication announces that Disgaea Infinite is on the way to North America. We’ll see it in May.

This will be NIS’s first visual novel, a popular genre in Japan, published in the United States. According to the announcement, players can play with a Prinny as the main character, and they will be trying to unravel an assassination attempt. A special clock allows the Prinny to take over other characters minds and bodies, allowing the player to learn the truth and unravel the mystery.

The screens above are in Japanese; NIS promises to release localised ones as they become available.

There’s Prinny In My PlayStation Home

This month sees an update for PlayStation Home. That update sees new things, like this Disgaea lounge where folks can play mini-games like a Disgaea test, a card game and a block game.

There are other things, too: Street Fighter IV avatar items and the ability to start-up SFIV games with folks you’ve met in Home, and Uncharted Waters Online〜Cruz del Sur〜 will make Home items available to players.

Disgaea 2 Getting Downsized For PSP

Nippon Ichi is giving Disgaea fans even more hot Prinny action on the go, announcing that a port of the PlayStation 2 game Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories will get a PSP port next year.

Just like the PlayStation Portable port of the original Disgaea: Hour of Darkness — which shrunk down in the form of Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness — next year’s portable version of Disgaea 2 will come with fresh content in the form of new battles and new characters. We’re guessing they’ll also come up with a snazzy new subtitle, especially if NIS America opts to localise it.

The official street date is March 26, 2009 for the Japanese version. No word yet on a Western translation, but we have our fingers crossed.

Prinny Asks ‘Can I Really Be the Hero?’ In English This February

NIS America has confirmed today, officially, that the Prinny-starring PSP side-scroller known in Japan as Prinny: Ore ga Shujinko de Iinsuka? will be getting a North American release early next year. Sure, it was all over but for the press release weeks ago, with said press release for the Disgaea spin-off landing in our inbox earlier today.

Now known as Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero?, expect to see it on or around Feb. 17, 2009 at a game retailer near you. The PlayStation Portable game will see you taking command of 1,000 Prinnies, stealing tanks, UFOs and penguin-butt slamming your foes. We’re excited! Are you?

Prinnies Get A Chance To Shine

Witz! You there? Course you’re not there. You’re unconscious, lying dangerously face-down amidst a pool of your own fluids. As no doubt thousands of other Prinny fans are at the news that Disgaea’s iconic penguin doods are set to star in their own game. Called Prinny: Ore ga Shujinko de Iinsuka?, it’ll see you take control of a “1,000-Prinny squadron on their quest to help an extremely pissed-off Etna recover her stolen sweets”, and is due for release on the PSN on November 20. That’s in Japan, at least, as your guess is as good as ours as to whether this’ll see a US release or not.

Odin Sphere, Disgaea To Go Greatest Hits

Two of Atlus’ best publishing efforts from the PlayStation 2 era are getting the Greatest Hits treatment, with Odin Sphere and Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. The latter of those two took an impressive five years and change to receive the coveted $US 19.99 price drop and dreaded red bar. We’re not complaining, as all PlayStation 2 owners should give these titles a whirl at these low, low prices. We’re just sort of shocked that someone at SCEA remembered Disgaea existed.

Both titles will have their box arts slightly shrunk and their street value hit rock bottom this September in North America. Congrats to both.
