NIS America has confirmed today, officially, that the Prinny-starring PSP side-scroller known in Japan as Prinny: Ore ga Shujinko de Iinsuka? will be getting a North American release early next year. Sure, it was all over but for the press release weeks ago, with said press release for the Disgaea spin-off landing in our inbox earlier today.
Witz! You there? Course you’re not there. You’re unconscious, lying dangerously face-down amidst a pool of your own fluids. As no doubt thousands of other Prinny fans are at the news that Disgaea’s iconic penguin doods are set to star in their own game. Called Prinny: Ore ga Shujinko de Iinsuka?, it’ll see you take control of a “1,000-Prinny squadron on their quest to help an extremely pissed-off Etna recover her stolen sweets”, and is due for release on the PSN on November 20. That’s in Japan, at least, as your guess is as good as ours as to whether this’ll see a US release or not.
Two of Atlus’ best publishing efforts from the PlayStation 2 era are getting the Greatest Hits treatment, with Odin Sphere and Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. The latter of those two took an impressive five years and change to receive the coveted $US 19.99 price drop and dreaded red bar. We’re not complaining, as all PlayStation 2 owners should give these titles a whirl at these low, low prices. We’re just sort of shocked that someone at SCEA remembered Disgaea existed.
Both titles will have their box arts slightly shrunk and their street value hit rock bottom this September in North America. Congrats to both.
That’s it, our Disgaea DVD competition is over! We’ve had a look at all the wonderful haikus that were sent in over the last week and, with great difficulty, selected five to receive a copy of the Disgaea Collection. Don’t feel bad if you missed out – the pack is available from today for $49.95.
Special props again to Madman, who made the competition possible. If your name appears after the jump, watch your inbox as we’ll be in touch soon to get your mailing address.
Now, for the winning entries!

Five copies of the Disgaea Collection are waiting to be won. They sit in their corner, crying, night after night, desperate for owners. I don’t know how much longer I can take it.

Competitions, we love them. You can’t hug or kiss them, but you sure can go all sexy-like on the prizes they result in. But you probably shouldn’t, because they tend to be valuable.
Alright then – who’s in the mood to win one of five Disgaea Collection DVD packs? Each is valued at $49.95, and they’re packed with Disgaea goodness… as you’d expect. Want to know more? I’ll let the Madman website do the talking:
The King of the Netherworld has died and various demons are now building their own empires in an effort to take control. However, the late King’s son has arrived and is out to reclaim his rightful place as ruler of the Netherworld! Along to help him is his vassal, Etna, with her Prinny squad, and Flonne, an angel-in-training originally sent to assassinate the king only to find that he has already died. Join our three intrepid – and somewhat eccentric – heroes as they initiate their plan to conquer the Netherworld, Heaven and Earth!
To be in the running, all you have to do is send your Disgaea-themed haikus to tipsATkotakuDOTcomDOTau with the subject line “Disgaea DVD comp”. We’ll be accepting entries until Tuesday next week. Winners will be drawn and announced on the Wednesday. Feel free to enter as many times as you like!

I was casually flicking through Madman’s latest DVD catalogue when I noticed the company will have the Disgaea anime available from May 14 via its online store. Yes, May is a while away, but a heads-up now is better than none at all. That’s what I’ve been told anyway.
The three-disc set will demand $49.95 from your wallet/purse/trust fund, and includes the English trailer, Japanese and music promos and “special talks”, which I’m assuming are interviews of some description. For the purists, there are Japanese and English dubs as well as English subtitles.
We’ll be sure to put together a giveaway closer to the release date, so keep an eye (or even two) out for that.
Disgaea Collection [Madman]
Kotakuite BrynnFlynn let us know that there’s an eBay auction going on currently for a Disagea Prinny … or is that a Witzbold?:
I was looking for something new and unique to crochet, and so I thought “Hey, why not make a little Prinny?” A few hours of mad crocheting and accidents later, I had a Prinny from the popular video game series Disgaea. Then I thought, “Hey, why not make it into a Witzbold?” Another hour of messing around with different yarns later, and I had a little replica of the infamous “Banhammer Wielder” from Kotaku.com, the most popular gaming website on the internet.
And there’s even a crocheted ban hammer to go with it. Awwww. It can be yours for the current low low bid of $US 5.99, which is way, way cheaper than most of the crocheted curiosities we post.
