The publisher has secured exclusive rights to the franchise, it announced today, granting it the power to publish Dragon Ball games “across all major consoles and hand held platforms.” Previously, the licence was handled by both Namco Bandai and Atari. The latter had a dispute with rights holder FUNimation in 2007.

The first three games to ship after the Namco Bandai deal are Dragon Ball: Raging Blast for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Dragon Ball: Revenge of King Piccolo for Wii, and Dragon Ball Z: Attack of the Saiyans for Nintendo DS.

The Xbox 360 and the PS3 are getting a Dragon Ball Z title called Raging Blast that appears to be a sequel to Dragon Ball Z Sparking! The Nintendo Wii is getting a Dragonball action game, which doesn’t appear to have a subtitle.

It does have Bulma character art that seems different from how see appeared in last fall’s Dragonball DS (Dragonball Origins in the West). See comparison.

AH HA! She has a name tag on the DS version. We knew there was something off.

As was expected, it looks relatively hideous, from Chow Yun-Fat’s hideous costume to James Marsters reprising his role as Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Spike, who in turn tries to portray Lord Piccolo. Don’t worry about the sound, there is none in this early preview trailer. Somehow I think we’re better for it.

She’s also a bit of a gamer, and a blogger. Ooo, and she loves Wal-Mart! We have so much in common! While I get busy writing Mike+Emmy with little hearts all over my spiral notebook, take a look at an excerpt from her latest blog from the set in Durango, Mexico

. I’ve never been much of a video gamer, but I like the adventure games and the shooting games might help my hand/eye coordination for the gun sequences in the film. I picked up a few games not really knowing what I was buying and when I started playing one I realized I had picked up “Stranglehold” starring Chow Yun Fat! Based on the John Woo movie “Hard Boiled,” the graphics are incredible, he jumps, flies and shoots in slow-mo, very John Woo, very cool. I feel a little shy to tell him I’m playing him on a video game, to tell him how cool it is!

Pretty nice random purchase if you ask me, considering one of her co-stars in the Dragonball film is Chow Yun Fat himself, who steps into the role of Master Roshi, the dirty old beach bum who just happens to be stronger than almost anyone on the planet.

As for the rest of Miss Rossum’s blog? I suppose you could read through it if you wanted to – I mean it’s not like you’re doing anything important right now anyway. Aside from a few nifty insights into the making of the movie, this is pretty much what you’ve got to look forward to:

I suppose I should mention I had a pet rabbit for a week when I was 6. I was the lucky one (when my name was chosen out of the hat) in school to take the class pet rabbit home for a week. Mom was not too thrilled to have “Peter Rabbit” running around our apartment. Even I will admit Peter was pretty messy, but I really loved little Peter Rabbit, and I named him after the great children’s book written by Beatrix Potter. Did you read that book growing up? It was one of my favorites.

OMG! Me too! This is so weird! You guys go check out her blog, I am going to write her a lengthy email about how awesome bunnies are.

Like Dragonball? You’re in luck! The DB movie is looking for extras. No experience necessary! It looks like the cattle call has already commenced. This is actually the coolest news to come out of the Dragonball movie shoot. In an age were all crowds scenes are CG, it’s pretty neat that the producers are using actual people for the shoot. Too bad they seem to be mucking up the rest of the flick. Then again, after the censoring the anime got when it came to the US, this movie should just be par for the course.
Um, the character of Goku, an important character to play, uh, been around on kid’s cartoons for a while, uh, so I hope I do a good job.

THIS MOVIE IS DOOMED. Hit the jump for hidden camera footage of the cast being introduced to reporters. The M.C. even forgets Justin Chatwin’s name. No, really!
