EB World members had gotten the early word, but passing past my local EB today, I noticed that a pretty intense one-day only sale is going on. Want a PS3 for $284, or a Vita for $298? Well, today is probably the day to head in to your local shopping centre and spent your rent money!*
Michael Preston was scouring the bargain bin at his local EB when he noticed something was a little… off. He looked closer at the game he was considering buying. “The Rock?” He asked himself. “In Brothers in Arms? I don’t remember anyone mentioning that in the reviews…”
Microsoft Space Bucks. It’s like money, except they come in the form of bucks. Microsoft Space Bucks. You use them to buy games. If someone came up to you on the street and said, ‘Hey guy, give me 12 dollars and I’ll give you 15′. You’d do it right? I know I would. Well, EB is doing a deal taking 20% off 1500 Microsoft point cards, and with Fez and Trials Evolution out now, I’d say that’s a pretty good deal.
A promotional EB Games video that aims to explain the retailer’s trade-in process has come under attack for using gender stereotypes and making negative generalisations about women.
It seems as though we’re moving into Midnight Launch season, and first up is Battlefield 3. Both GAME and EB have announced which stores are staying up late for the release of Battlefield 3. Steel yourself folks – there are a lot of them.
A few Kotaku readers have tipped us off to EB Games selling Dead Island a day early. The game’s official release date is September 9, but a number of posts have gone up on EB’s Facebook page from people who have seen the game on sale today.
In case you haven’t heard, Resident Evil: The Mercenaries will only have one save file – a save file that cannot be deleted. Capcom has completely denied that this is an attempt to halt pre-owned sales of the game – but if that was the intention, then it has worked, in Australia at least. Because EB games will not be accepting trades of the game, and it’s likely that other retailers will follow that decision.
Vooks has the first photographed receipt of Ocarina of Time, meaning that EB has officially broken the Street Date for the game, selling it before its official release next Thursday. We expect other retailers to start selling the game soon.
This morning has been… interesting to say the least. There is no doubt that if you walk into an EB game store today, and they have stock, they will sell you a copy of Zelda: Ocarina of Time if you directly ask for it. I’ve spoken to a few EB stores this morning, and the responses have been hilarious.
