Zero Punctuation On Alone In The Dark

12:30PM Logan Booker | Maybe it’s just me, but the word “cock” gets plenty of action in this instalment of Ben Croshaw’s Zero Punctuation. I suppose Alone in the Dark and man parts just go together. Seeing as the word is not often associated with excellence, you shouldn’t have any trouble guessing what Croshaw thought of Eden Games’ survival horror title. Oh, and Atari gets smacked around as well. Zero Punctuation: Alone in the Dark [The Escapist] More »

Alone in the Dark Delayed for PS3

3:00AM Owen Good | And no word on when it will actually arrive. In an interview with VideoGamer.com, Nour Polloni of developer Eden Games says the game is “not performing as well on PS3 as we hope it is in terms of frame rate,” and they’re holding back the title in order to give PS3 players their money’s worth. “We didn’t want it to come out and have less of an experience for the PS3 gamer,” Polloni said. “We wanted to tweak that up and make sure they get the best experience on PS3 as much as possible.” Alone in the Dark for PS3 will be the same content as the 360 and PC versions but will still be “worth the wait.” Those two consoles plus the PS2 and Wii versions will drop on June 24. And, interestingly, he got real cagey about multiplayer possibilities in this franchise. More »

Atari Reveals AU/NZ Alone in the Dark Limited Edition Details

3:30PM Logan Booker | It’s out in June and Atari has organised our Limited Edition bundle. I couldn’t be happier – I’ve been waiting for this game since I saw it back at E3 2006. You know, when it was still worth going to. Perhaps the most exciting inclusion in the LE is the Edward Carnby figurine. Okay, it will be the most exciting inclusion as long as it doesn’t turn out to be made by the same company that does toys for McDonalds’ Happy Meals. Also tossed in the box is the soundtrack, art book, documentary and game (duh). Hit the jump for the full release. More »

Alone In The Dark Euro Limited Edition

12:20AM Mike Fahey | Someone at Eden Games has a thing for Keanu Reeves, don’t you think? It’s as if they buffed him up, renamed him Edward Carnby and plastered his face all over the European Limited Edition for Alone In The Dark for the Wii, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. He’s on the cover of the Official Soundtrack CD, the Making Of DVD, and splashed throughout the pages of the bound art book. Hell, they’ve even included a figurine of Neo Carby for you to play bullet-time with in the bathtub. It’s all wrapped up in a rather nifty looking box that will completely fail to fit on the shelf with the rest of your game collection, securing it a cherry spot above your mantle. All I can say is whoa…I hope we get something similar stateside. Not to sure about the game but I love having boxes of Limited Edition stuff lying around. galleryPost('aitd422', 3, ''); More »

Infogrames Setting Alone In The Dark Up For A Fall

7:30PM Luke Plunkett | Infogrames boss David Gardner has told Reuters “we want to stop losing money”. No shit, Dave! As for how they’re going to do that, well…they’re hoping to sell a lot of videogames. Like the new Alone In The Dark. More »

Be Sinister, Win An Xbox 360 (Or Alone in the Dark Soundtrack)

1:20PM Logan Booker | Atari has just announced “Sinister Sightings”, a competition to promote the new Alone in the Dark. The objective? To take the creepiest photo you can in the world’s least creepy locale – a park. Okay, maybe parks can be creepy when murderers, hobos and other, less savoury types stalk their finely manicured shrubbery. In any case, it’s up to you to make it an unsettling place so your photo is indeed, disturbing. A winner will be chosen each week via online voting. Each winner will receive a copy of the AITD 5 soundtrack, while the winner with the most votes at the end of the competition will get an Xbox 360. If you think you have what it takes to put the “Oh” into “Oh my God, there’s a weird dude in the park taking photos of me” then be sure to hit the jump. More »

Rubbish At Alone In The Dark? Skip The Hard Bits

8:30PM Luke Plunkett | In an interview with OXM, Alone In The Dark producer Nour Polloni has explained that the game’s coming bundled with a feature that should help out anyone who suffers from stubby thumbs. If you find yourself stuck on a particular part of the game and are getting sick of replaying it, the game will let you skip straight past it: We want everybody to be able to finish our game, so one of the other new features we’ve added is the ability to skip sections using a DVD-style menu if you get stuck. Only downside is that it’ll cost you possible achievement points, but then if you’re the type of person who’s going to skip on gameplay just to get past a tough bit you probably don’t give a flying duck about your gamerscore, either. Alone In The Dark Trailer Is Dark, Lonely

1:00AM Luke Plunkett | Running around in the dark chopping up tables looks booooooring. We know, the real game will have bad guys, but for now, this trailer, it’s booooooooring. All except for that inventory system, actually: finally, a game where an actual objective is to reach into your pants in first-person, in real-time. More »

New Website, Release Date For Alone In The Dark 5

11:00AM Logan Booker | It’s called “Central Dark”, and it even has a selection on the landing page for Australian users (with the US missing, oddly enough). Yippee ki ya. The main attractions are the screenshots, for which the Xbox 360, Wii and Playstation 2 versions of the game are catered for; some facts about the “re-imagined” Central Park that serves as the play area in AITD 5; and a couple of flavour videos to set the mood. On a related note, there’s been more word on when Eden Games’ survivor horror title will actually be released. Jan/Feb/March 2008 seems just a tad more realistic than the one Atari Australia’s website was sporting last year. Central Dark [Official site, via Blue's News] More »

Alone In The Dark 5 Teaser

3:11PM Luke Plunkett | We’re guessing (and it’s hard to be sure, what with the trailer being so subtle and all) that there’s something evil. Something evil under Central Park. That’s…killing birds. Lots of birds. And driving up real estate prices. Whatever “it” is, it’s very evil. And mysterious. But mostly evil. More »
