2:05PM Luke Plunkett | Sadly still haven’t had a chance to play this, but I love this trailer. Why? Because the original Enemy Territory was as fantastic as a giant, fantastic box full of fantastic, so seeing the steps they’ve taken to not just maintain the teamwork aspect of it in Quake Wars but improve on it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Australia Beats US To Quake Wars, Lots Of Shoving, Gnashing Of Teeth
9:20AM Logan Booker | Activision has seen fit to grace Oz retailers with copies of Splash Damage’s Enemy Territory: Quake Wars a full four days before it’ll venture out into Consumerland in the United States. If this Battlefield-inspired shooter appeals to your gaming tastes, you’ll be interested to know the RRP for the regular version is $89.95, while $99.95 will reward you with the Limited Collector’s Edition. The LCE comes with a DVD with artwork, 10 collectable cards and, for the particularly geeky, ringtones.
For now, it’s PC-only – but Xbox 360 and PS3 versions are on their way according to Activision. If you do grab the PC version, it might be an idea to have a read over this tweak guide. More »
Tweak Your Territory
10:40AM Logan Booker | The guys over at TweakGuides.com have posted a spiffy optimisation guide for Splash Damage’s Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. Based on id Software’s Doom 3 engine, there are probably a lot of tweaks you could carry across from the claustrophobic 2004 shooter. But, as far as the specifics are concerned, this guide is about as comprehensive as it gets.
So, if you’re currently enjoying the beta, or maybe trying to enjoy it but the frame rate stinks like the intestinal wind from a curry-loving monkey, then you might want to give this guide a look-see.

9:00AM Mike Fahey | Enemy Territory: Quake Wars feels like it has taken forever to get here, and honestly I had started to lose interest in the title, but the recently released launch trailer here has my interest rising anew. It reminded me about all the things that really matter in life: spaceships, giant robots, and lasers. How could I have strayed so far from the true path? More »
Quake Wars Demo Is Live
5:40AM Mark Wilson | The Enemy Territory: Quake Wars demo is ready for download on the game’s official site. It actually supports both single and multiplayer modes, so you can kill bots and friends alike. We actually saw the featured map (Valley) in Leipzig and I can attest to it being both large and beautiful. And if this Mac were only a PC, we’d be base jumping off mountaintops into enemy bases instead of just telling you about it. Maybe it’s time for that Vista install. Anyone who completes the download, hit the comments and let us know the size, experience, etc. Because we want details. And we want you to do our job for us. Hit the jump for the full press release. Enemy Territory: Quake Wars Demo Lands Monday
10:20AM Michael McWhertor | The official Enemy Territory: Quake Wars community site updated recently with a post full of good news. PC gamers looking forward to next month’s retail release can busy themselves with a demo for the game starting Monday, September 10th. Featuring the map Valley, which some of you may have seen in the game’s public beta, the demo will be at a number of sites, including Yahoo! Games, Nvidia, FilePlanet, Fileshack and more. Gamers can play online multiplayer against humans or offline against bots as well as host their own online games or LAN shindigs via the Enemy Territory: Quake Wars demo. And speaking of shindigs, it won’t get much more happenin’ than the IRC party scheduled for Monday’s kick off, which will be attended by members of id, Splash Damage and Activision. The PC system requirements have also been finalised, so check them out, just in case you find yourself in need of a quick weekend hardware upgrade. 5:30PM Luke Plunkett | Quake Wars! One day I think you’re already out, the next, I think you’re still months away. It’s one of those games. Always hearing about it, never seeing it on a shelf. Activision just let us know that it is coming, and is coming soon, with the game having just gone gold. Expect to be battling the Strogg on mega-textured maps on September 28 if you’re in Europe or Australia, or October 2 if you’re in North America.
