Blizzard has resisted the allure of free-to-play for quite some time, though it was suggested by one of the company’s lead designers that a F2P model “was an option” for StarCraft II‘s multiplayer. Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation is a free-to-play, multiplayer, third-person shooter on the PlayStation 3. In the game, you join either the Earth Federation or Zeon along with eleven other players for six versus six team-based combat. To win, you capture points, destroy the other side’s mobile suits, and destroy your enemy’s main base. Win or lose, your gain experience that is put to researching new weapons, armour and mobile suits.
BioWare Is ‘Looking At Free-to-Play’ For Star Wars: The Old Republic
Back in December BioWare’s duelling doctors told us they couldn’t see their newly-launched massively multiplayer online Star Wars role-playing game going free-to-play in the foreseeable future. Then BioWare botched several free game updates and lost a good chunk of the game’s subscribers. Suddenly free-to-play isn’t looking so bad.
