SEGA Wii Game Gets Perfect Famitsu Score

Japanese publication Famitsu has given another coveted perfect scores. The latest perfecto is 428 ~Fuusa Sareta Shibuya de~ a visual novel for the Wii from Chunsoft and SEGA, the second Wii game to receive it.

This Is How Much Japan's Market Has Declined In 12 Months

Oh dear. Famitsu publisher (and industry analysts) Enterbrain have published their Japanese figures for the month of October, and it's not pretty reading. Compared to October 2007, software sales are down 14.9%. Hardware sales are even worse, down an impressive 29.1%. Overall, this means the market is down 21.6%. That's...that's really sad reading. Only bright side is if you're a Microsoft Japan employee, as for the month, the 360 outsold the PS3, 27,000 to 22,000. Crazy days.

The Tokyo Game Show is long over. It ended last month, which in internet time is a decade ago. The latest issue of Famitsu has fascinating TGS 2008 data for us to look at and mull over. The publication surveyed 1,000 visitors, 79 percent of TGS attendees were male, 21 percent female. Here's the data:

Atlus Teases New DS Game Devil Survivor

Atlus is back with another Famitsu teaser ad. Last time, the company used the Japanese publication to announce Raidou Kuzunoha vs. Avadon King Announced. This week, Atlus announces new DS title Devil Survivor and hints that more will be announced about the game next week. According to NeoGAF, this title could very well be related to Atlus's popular Persona franchise. We'll know more in a week.

How'd Wii Music Do In Japan?

Wii Music was the subject of a substantial marketing campaign that hit while we were in Japan for Tokyo Game Show. Rare was the train ride or subway station that didn't have some kind of Wii Music presence. That advertising — and Wii Fever, no doubt — translated to some pretty healthy first-week sales of the title in Japan.

First Final Fantasy Versus XIII Real Time PS3 Screens

The Tokyo Game Show 2008 Final Fantasy Versus XIII trailer featured one scene rendered in the PS3 in real time. According to the game's director Tetsuya Nomura, that scene was the one where Noctis meets blonde-haired heroine Stella. The upcoming issue of Japanese game magazine Famitsu has scans of this scene. GTA IV Just Misses Perfect Famitsu Score

While there's debate about how much stock should be put in the reviews from Japanese game magazine Famitsu, one cannot deny that they do carry influence for some consumers. The magazine scores games on a numbered scale with 40 being a perfect score — something that only a few titles have ever achieved: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Soulcalibur, Vagrant Story, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Nintendogs, Final Fantasy XII, Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Metal Gear Solid 4.

Toshinden Returns. On The Wii. Yay.

The newest issue of Famitsu reveals that Takara Tomy will be reviving the Toshinden series, this time on the Wii. The 3D fighter, best known for the fact that it was a 3D fighter, owes much of its success to there being no better alternative on the original PlayStation. Perhaps lightning will strike twice with the next Toshinden.

Japanese Schoolgirl Sakura Joins Street Fighter IV Fight!

The latest issue of Famitsu announces that Japanese schoolgirl Sakura Kasugano will be making an appearance in multi-plat home console version of Street Fighter IV. While she's made it into the game, Capcom is still apparently "undecided" whether Cammy will be in SFIV or not. Yeah, right.
