We’ve heard the term ‘net neutrality’ bandied about the internet for more than a decade, yet many gamers aren’t aware of how important the concept is to their continued online entertainment. Why should you care about net neutrality?
Comcast customers have reason to be nervous today, as a federal appeals court rules that the Federal Communications Commission doesn’t have the authority to enforce Net Neutrality on internet providers.
People drop out of college for all kinds of reasons – relationships, drugs, joining a band, deciding to follow The Dead around in a camper van.. the list is long and varied.
The Federal Communications Commission has let slip news of one more addition to the PlayStation 3 hardware family. At some unspecified date, we’ll be welcoming little AK8CBEH1101 into the gaming world, kicking and screaming with a new antennae gain for both the Bluetooth and Wi-fi modules. Hopefully, that means less SIXAXIS wonkiness, the kind that leads to Drake walking off a cliff unintentionally. The rest of the new spec is under a confidentially agreement, due to expire on April 14, so we’ll hold tight until then for this potentially underwhelming reveal.
AK8CBEH1101 Report [FCC via NeoGAF - thanks, Elaine!]
Some filings over on the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) website have revealed that Sony plan to manufacture the white, 40GB PS3 for the American market. The first filings were made in October of last year, but were initially withheld from the public at Sony’s request, so as to “avoid premature release of sensitive information prior to marketing or release of this product to the public”. The filings are, however, now clearly visible on the FCC’s site, including pics of the Commission’s testing rig and Sony’s declaration that the white PS3 will be manufactured according to FCC regulations. Now all we need is a release date, and we’re all set. FCC ID AK8CBEH1300 [FCC, via PS3 Fanboy]
With the heavily rumoured (read: all but confirmed) feature-gimped 40 GB model of the PLAYSTATION 3 revealed in a recent FCC filing, possibly as model number CECHG01, it should come as little surprise that yet another PS3 SKU is in the works. An additional application from Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. with the FCC shows that model number CECHH01, with FCC ID AK8CBEH1300, has undergone testing at the commission. What we don’t know about the new PS3 model is its full hardware configuration, as the details are hidden from public viewing by a short term confidential request letter.
