The seventh series of McFarlane’s Halo figures draws from four of the franchise’s games, three of its species, numerous gaudy colours and even a little Ninja Gaiden.

Due for release in early 2010, there’ll also be a weapons pack, should your diorama be lacking in duel-wielding or grenades. You’ll be able to get them anywhere you can already get the previous 1,345 figures in the range.

This statue of the power armoured soldier from Section 8 is pretty awesome, don’t you think? It – and a copy of the first-person shooter on Xbox 360 – could be yours if you can prove your madness.

Thanks to our friends at Namco Bandai, we have one Section 8 statue (valued at 700 bucks) and three copies of the game on Xbox 360 to give away. One of you will walk away with the statue and game; two runners-up will get the game.

Section 8 is a large-scale, sci-fi first-person shooter where fast-paced action meets military strategy in the far reaches of the galaxy. It has a single-player campaign and a full suite of team-based multiplayer modes.

You take on the role of a member of the 8th Armoured Infantry, essentially a suicide squad called in for the most dangerous missions of all. Hence the name: Section 8 is a US military term used to refer to those discharged for being “mentally unfit” for service.

To be in the running to win, we want you to show us why you deserve to receive a Section 8, too. You need to prove to us just how mentally unfit you are, and thus just how mentally fit you are for this game. Send us photographic proof of your madness to the usual address. (Just make sure you have the Kotaku “K” logo in there somewhere.)

Stick Professor Layton On Your Shelf

With a new Layton movie due out in Japan next month, it’s time to start cashing in! And there’s no better way than with a line of small, neat little action figures.

These are “FuruFuru” figures, which basically means “bobblehead”, only more subtle, with everyone’s proportions in order. There are two available — the good Professor and Luke — and you can import them for just under $US30 each.

Steep, yeah, but on the bright side they’re not asking you to solve any stupid match-stick puzzles in the checkout process.

Mummy, Where Do Video Game Toys Come From?

There are a lot of video game toys out there. We should know. But did you ever stop to wonder, amidst all the yearning and admiration for a hunk of painted vinyl, just where it came from?

Toy importer Pop Culture Shock do, as they’ve published a gallery on Capcom’s site showing the factory in China where SOTA’s Capcom statues are put together and finished off.

Most of the shots depict SOTA’s Zangief piece being assembled then painted, but you’ll also see Sagat and Darkstalker’s Felicia pop up as well.

Makes you wonder why they don’t advertise “individually hand-painted” on the box.

Nero Figure Has A Devil On His Shoulder

This is Yamato’s Nero figure, from Devil May Cry 4. He is large, he’s so far only slated for a Japanese release, and has a rather childish look of disappointment to him.

Like he asked for an ice cream, and his mother said “no”.

Made by Yamato, you can import it when it’s released in December for just over $US100.

Metal Gear Rex Figure: Big, Shiny, Enormous

Hong Kong-based toy company threeA will be releasing a Metal Gear Rex figure sometime next year. As you can see from these pics, the detail is incredible. As is the sheer size of the thing.

No idea on an exact release date or price, but don’t expect this to be either widely available or cheap.

Splatterhouse Figure Won’t Bring Jennifer Back

It will, however, look great in your office, custom toysmith Jin Saotome’s latest piece capturing Splatterhouse’s Rick in all his barbaric, denim-clad glory.

A reminder: this is a one-off custom figure, not something you’ll find clipped to an aisle in your local Toys ‘R’ Us. If you want one (or something like it), take it up with Namco Bandai’s licensing department.

Hello There Sengoku Basara Figures

Dante’s Inferno In Unpainted Figure Form

Upcoming EA published title Dante’s Inferno is getting an animated movie and a live action movie. It’s also getting toys. Know what we’ll be getting soon?

The pictured action figure is in production and is a work-in-progress sample (hence the lack of colour). The actual figure will be available this February when the game is released.

The Dante’s Inferno statue was shown this past April at the New York Toy Fair. Compare to the recent photo for tweaks and changes.

Suzuhime, heroine of Samurai Shodown: Edge of Destiny, is getting a 1/8 figurine from figure maker Kotobukiya. This is the back of it. Want to see the front?
