Whenever I visit an internet cafe in China, be it Shanghai, Beijing or wherever, it always surprises me how many of the games available are MMO’s or bad rip-offs of western games. Normally I would scroll past the Chinese fare and move onto something a little more domestic like Call of Duty or Ages of Empires, but Final Combat caught and its colourful banner caught my eye and my attention.
Chinese shooter Final Combat, an unsubtle, shameless swipe of two other free-to-play games – Valve’s Team Fortress 2 and EA’s Battlefield Heroes – has a new playable class it would like to introduce: the Sniper. The sexy, short-skirted, probably-does-not-urinate-in-jars Sniper.
The game makers of China, not content to let the Koreans corner the market on Team Fortress 2 clones, have created their own in Final Combat, only this one is way, way more blatant than previous efforts.
