ForgePorn I can sort of understand because, hell, people have been drawing dicks on everything since the time of cave paintings. But marijuana? Don’t kids draw on desks anymore?
We’ve previously seen how Halo 3‘s Forge can be used as a canvas by the artistically included. And while the above image is certainly not the first “erotic” images made with Forge level editor by a damn sight. (Hey, give the plebs the ability to create, and you betcha, they’ll whip up naughty bits!) But these are the first MAXIMUM RISKY Japanese anime-style ones we’ve seen — then again, we haven’t exactly been looking. They, of course, were made by lining up weapons.

Imagine Master Chief hanging out with Chicken Little. A Warthog drops from the sky and kills Master Chief. And Chicken Little is left with nothing to do but spend hours in Forge, discovering just who made the sky fall on our lovable hero/Little’s fiance. Wait…was Chicken Little a girl? Was Master Chief a boy? Can we get some confirmation on this stuff before proceeding with the lame metaphor? Thanks Jason!
Enterprising map makers and modders will have a handful of new toys to play with in Halo 3‘s Forge creation tool when the Legendary Map Pack ships. And while new scaffolding and tweaked shipping containers may get you moist, it’s the new suite of visual filters that may excite Halo fans most. The latest Bungie weekly update reveals the latest Forge improvements, including funky and fresh filters that will give your map a “juicy”, “gloomy” or “old timey” look. That’s great and all, Bungie boys, but what we need is the ability to generate lens flare under any lighting condition. We require massive amounts of lens flare!

Asking your girlfriend to join you in wedded bliss via the Halo 3 Forge tool is sweet and all, but it’s cloyingly so to one who has zero faith in the institution of marriage. We’re far more impressed by more egocentric endeavors, like spending the hours necessary to create a self-portrait in Forge, especially one that looks as challenging as the one above. The creator writes: “I was thinking that an image could be created if objects were placed in the foreground, middle ground and background and then viewed from a specific area that would converge the objects to make the image. If done correctly, the image would appear vertical and 3D as opposed to lying on the ground.” Done correctly indeed!

Halo 3‘s single player campaign wasn’t the only thing impressive about the game, it also has some pretty amazing multiplayer modes going for it.
I had initially blown off the need to play multiplayer during my trip to Bungie because I had played the game online with everyone else during the beta. But once they reminded me about their four player co-op mode and the Forge which allows you to edit multiplayer maps on the fly my interest returned.
Co-op will probably be the main reason I play the retail version of the game at my house once it officially launches. I’ve already beaten it on my own, so I don’t really feel a burning need to do that again, but I would love to go through the game in Legendary mode co-op. More »
