Looking through that beautiful footage of Star Wars Battlefront III again and again and again this morning, I couldn’t help but notice something:
More leaks springing from the now dead in the water Free Radical, it seems.
Having recently shed 140 employees worth of weight, the slimmer, more manageable Free Radical is drawing a great deal of interest from various parties, with sale news expected later this month.
With Free Radical Design having effectively kicked the bucket, shedding most of its workforce and desperately seeking buyers, here come the leaks. We’ve already seen what Timesplitters 4 might have looked like—how about Battlefront III?
Timesplitters and Haze developer Free Radical Design is not quite done for. After hearing word that the Nottingham based developer with a penchant or shooters had shut its doors (literally), comes confirmation of its troubles.
The rumours of TimeSplitters developer Free Radical’s demise were a bit premature, but things aren’t at all good, as the developer drops over 75% of their workforce and puts the remnants up for sale.
A few months before Free Radical Design cratered, founder Steve Ellis set up a new studio and parked the domain for “Pumpkin Beach.” Well, he and 20 former FRD coders now have jobs there.
Nick Carver is looking for a job. Which sucks for him because now’s probably not the best time to be doing that. But it’s great for us because he just dumped some of the TimeSplitters 4 concept art he worked on all over the Internet to help him find a new job.
Lots of rumours flying around today concerning Timesplitters developer Free Radical. So one more – this time concerning the future of their “Star Wars project” (ie Battlefront III) – won’t hurt you.
UK developer Free Radical Design, the team behind Haze and the Time Splitters franchise, have closed their doors, apparently permanently, according to a number of inside sources.
