frontlines: fuel of war
New Frontlines Map Appears On Xbox Live
2:40AM Mike Fahey | The first of five new maps for THQ’s Frontlines: Fuel of War has hit Xbox Live, available now for the low, low price of free. Boneyard features Western Coalition and Alliance forces facing off at a fully functional nuclear missile facility, which is sure to mean ensuing hilarity for all involved. The new map also features several new toys to play with, including the automatic shotgun, Red Star transport heli, and the enticingly named rocket jeep. I was really hoping Frontlines would do better so I could use the Top Spot image above, but I think sharing a name with dog flea medication and a map called Boneyard is enough to run with it. Hand-Sprayed Frontlines Xbox 360 Elite Could Be Yours
11:30AM Logan Booker | THQ loves its airbrushed consoles. Not that we can blame it – they look awfully nice. Mind you if I owned one I’d be too scared to play it, you know, in case it went all RRoD on my arse.
According to the publisher, the Frontlines: Fuel of War-themed 360 Elite will be given away to a subscriber of the Aussie Official Xbox 360 Magazine. The painted console will appear in the April issue of the publication, if you’d like to pick it up.

Frontlines To Support 50 Player Matches
3:20AM Mike Fahey | When does a game slip from multiplayer to massively multiplayer? Devs on the Kaos Studios forums have confirmed that Frontlines: Fuel of War is getting dangerously close, with both PC and Xbox 360 versions supporting up to 50 players in multiplayer matches when the game is released later this month, moving the title from ‘meh’ to must-buy on many a gamer’s shopping lists – including my own. Not only do I revel in the sort of chaos two 25 man teams can cause when outfitted with futuristic weapons and set loose on the battlefield, 50 players means I have plenty of room to suck without being noticed. Don’t worry PS3 players. Though Frontlines was canceled for your console, you’re still getting Resistance 2 with 60 player support somewhere down the line, so it’s all good. 50 PLAYER CAP for Multiplayer?! Frontlines Oz Collector’s Edition Goodies, Up Close
1:30PM Logan Booker | I may have neglected to mention that on Thursday I spent a significant chuck of the afternoon playing Frontlines: Fuel of War multiplayer on Xbox 360. I’m writing my impressions as you read this. Expect them before the end of the day, or slightly before the end of the day.
Until then, here’s a few of the freebies the THQ guys gave out at the event. Above is the “Drone to Kill” T-shirt that comes with the Xbox 360 Collector’s Edition and after the jump you’ll find the poster (with added thong goodness) packed into the PC and 360 CEs. More »
PS3 Version Of Frontlines: Fuel Of War Officially On Empty
10:58AM Michael McWhertor | It would appear that video game retailers wiping the PlayStation 3 version of Kaos Studios’ shooter Frontlines: Fuel of War from their databases wasn’t done just for giggles. It would appear that GameStop called both guys who pre-ordered the game for a reason. THQ officially cancelled the PS3 edition of the game today, previously thought to just be delayed, using the same axe to kill the release of the PlayStation 2 version of Destroy All Humans!: Big Willy Unleashed. Don’t go jumping off any buildings, now, kids, despite how hard it may seem to put this terrible, terrible news behind us. Editor’s note: Seeing as the PS3 version was being developed in Australia, I’m chasing THQ’s local presence for additional comment. Stay tuned. More »
