Next Week Beers, Music, Fun, All for Child’s Play

Next week, next Wednesday (Dec. 12 to be precise) I will be hanging out at the Walnut Room in Denver hoping to help raise a bit of cash for Child’s Play through the first ever Denver Funde Razor: Hall of the Mountain Gods! OK, I made that last bit, the Gods bit, up, but it does have a nice ring to it.

If you’re interesting in stopping by to play some Rock Band on stage, drink some beer and perhaps win some goodies all for the good of Child’s Play check out the official Funde Razor site for details on both the Denver event and the Brooklyn one, hosted by Mountain Man Joel Johnson. If you do plan on coming to the Denver event hit up the Walnut Room from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. If you plan on Brooklyn, get to Barcade between 8 p.m. and midnight.

Play Nintendo Games? No, No, No. Play Nintendo Cards.

Hot on the heels of two very huggable Companion Cubes come my very humble contribution to Funde Razor giveaways: two packs of official Nintendo hanafuda cards. Originally a hanafuda maker, Nintendo is one of the few companies that still makes these cards. These were purchased at the 7-11 near my house and have dust on them from neglect here in Japan. Here’s hoping one pack will find a good home in Denver, and the other will likewise in Brooklyn. Click the link below to find more about Dec. 12th Funde Razor blowout. Way more. Funde Razor

The Life-Sized Plushie Companion Cubes

What you see before you aren’t just the coolest damn game-related plushies on the planet. They’re not just life-sized, and very huggable Companion Cubes, no they’re also the grand prizes for the Brooklyn and Denver Funde Razor events happening on Dec. 12 to raise money for Penny Arcade’s Child’s Play Charity.

That’s right, not only can you hang-out with fellow gamers in Brooklyn and Denver and play a little Rock Band or Guitar Hero on a big-screen, but you have a chance at winning one of these Companion Cubes created by Diane Koss with the help of a grant from the Bond Street Group. Each of the two cubes, seen here sandwiching one standard-issue human female, will be awarded to one test subject in each Fünde Razor facility.

Also: We’ll be giving away some LEGO, courtesy of Lego and Net Devil, co-creators of the upcoming LEGO Universe massively multiplay online videogame. More prizes to be announced as we get closer to the event.

Joel Johnson will be on hand at the FR in Brooklyn to make sure people get the goodies and I’ll be on hand in Denver to rock out.

This Year’s Funde Razor is Twice as Good

Just a heads up: Joel Johnson, Brian Crecente and Brian Crecente’s hair will be putting on their officially blessed Child’s Play fundraiser in two fabulous cities. On Wednesday, December 12th in Brooklyn and Denver, kind hearted and generous gamers will gather to play Guitar Hero and Rock Band, drink some beer and help raise money to benefit hospitalized children for the holidays.

The Brooklyn competition will take place at Barcade (home of the World Famous Kotaku Party 2007) and in Denver, rockers will attend at the glamorous and exciting Walnut Room. In both locations, a donation of ten dollars (either at the door or through raffle tickets depending on the location) could net you a host of currently unannounced fabulous door prizes. All proceeds from bothe events will go to benefit Penny Arcade’s Child’s Play Charity. Last year’s Brooklyn event raised over $US 4,200. This year, let’s totally kick the shit outta that total and raise moar.

Joel, who heads up Boing Boing Gadgets, will be handling the Brooklyn bash, while Crecente will be heading up the Denver one. Likewise, Crecente’s hair will help with the Denver event. (That, and drink too much beer.) Read more about all this in the link below and help a good cause rock out. Funde Razor ’07 [Official Site]
