You know how it goes. You're waist-deep in physics exams, calculations and numbers out the wahzoo, and all you really want to do is play Tetris. Whipping out a Game Boy in the lab, that's poor form, but whipping out a calculator? That's cool. Cooler when your calculator isn't a calculator at all, but this cleverly-disguised...yes, Game Boy.

The iPhone's pretty nice, if you're the type to stomach Apple's simple, clean design philosophy. But what if you're the type to prefer Nintendo's pixellated Game Boy styles? And just can't live without your web-browsing, iPod-playing, touch-screen mobile communications device? You get this. It's a Game Boy theme for your (jailbroken) iPhone. Comes in two flavours - with buttons and sans buttons - but you'll have to get Battletoads on your own.
You take a Game Boy, you throw it in the microwave, you can kiss your Game Boy goodbye. Maybe the microwave, too. But if you take your Game Boy then apply some Photoshoppery to it, make it look like its been thrown in the microwave, descended into hell then returned with a thirst for human flesh, well, then you've got this puppy. Truly frightening.
Which handheld is the most popular in Japan? Which one is most popular with men? With women? Questions! Endless!! Net Asia Co., Ltd. polled 401 mobile phone users ranging from 15 to 29 years old. Here's the breakdown by sex:
We don't like posting auctions here. Because some other asshole makes money, and not us assholes. But for this we'll make an exception. Over at Yahoo! Auctions, one individual is auctions off 151 Game Boy Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue, Pokémon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition and Japan only Pokémon Green. These are the first generation Pokeé+mon. And 151 cartridges, that's a whole Pokeédex worth! The seller points out that the non-mint cartridges don't have instruction booklets or boxes, are grimy and scribbled on and make good dominos.
If you are the type who collects old gaming memorabilia that will probably be actually played with once before taking up closet space, then boy oh boy do we have exciting news for you. PlayAsia is selling new, old Game Boy PocketPrinters. Originally retailing for almost $US 60, you can score one now for just $US 10 and shipping. And if you happen to have a compatible Game Boy along with the Pocket Camera peripheral as well, who needs one of those lame-ass camera phones. Am I right?
We know the Game Boy is dead, you know the Game Boy is dead, in fact everybody knows it's dead. Everyone except Nintendo. And the people still buying them every month. But especially Nintendo. A recent survey the company conducted, however, may shed some light on their internal thought processes, as it asks customers what they think of the handheld's staying power. While it may have been tempting to select the bottom two, we sincerely hope anyone who took part in this survey did the right thing and ticked the top box. If you truly love the Game Boy, you'll let it go.
