Gametraders has extended its clearance sale and also added new products to the list of discounted games. All the products can be purchased online so there is no need to queue up at a store only to find that they are out of stock.
Click on this at your own peril. Gametraders is having a pretty beefy sale at the minute. If you want to stock up on games you’ll most likely never play, or you want to build a jenga tower from your pile of shame, this is the place to be!
Super Mario 3D Land is now fully available in most specialist retailers in Australia, ahead of its official release date this Thursday — a direct result of Gametraders’ decision to grey import European copies of the game. Yesterday Mark Langford, the Managing Director of Gametraders claimed that decision was made after stores were unable to purchase Limited Editions of the upcoming Nintendo title The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Today, Nintendo sent us a response to those claims.
Mark Langford sounds a little tired, and you can’t blame him.
As Managing Director of Gametraders, Langford’s company is at the forefront of another street date drama. After Gametraders grey imported copies of Super Mario 3D Land — selling ahead of Australia’s official release date — both EB and JB Hifi are reportedly selling official Australian copies ahead of Thursday. But according to Mark Langford, his company is just defending itself.
“If Nintendo would just do the right thing,” he says, “we wouldn’t break street date.
According to all official statements from Nintendo, Ocarina of Time on the 3DS is on sale today – but most of us have been playing the game since last Friday. It was the strangest, most covert street break in Australian history – a street break that threatens to transform the way games are sold in this country. We spoke to all the major retailers, and Nintendo itself, to try and uncover precisely what happened, and why.
Vooks has just gotten word that EB is set to begin selling official Australian copies of Ocarina of Time early, in response to Gametraders selling grey imported copies of the game a week early. The question is – do they have Nintendo’s permission?
We’ve spoken to the Managing Director of Gametraders before, in our extensive pre-owned feature, but we were surprised to see him comment yesterday on our Gametraders Selling Ocarina Of Time Early, informing us of his reasons for buying video game stock overseas and selling Ocarina of Time before its scheduled release date.
Just to clarify, this is not an official street date break but, as reported by Vooks, Gametraders is selling EU, imported versions of Ocarina of Time in their stores, a week ahead of the game’s official release date in Australia.
