New Cars For Gran Turismo 5 Prologue

Posted by Mike Fahey at 12:20 AM on October 4, 2008

PlayStation 3 racing fans are advised to hop into Gran Turismo 5 Prologue today, where a game update adds three new cars to the game's stable, along with various gameplay tweaks to help tighten up the experience. The three new rides include the Ferrari California will go for 300,000 credits, the Lotus Evora for 100,000 credits, and finally the Citroen GT, weighing in at a hefty 1,000,000 credits.

Along with the new cars comes difficulty tweaks for races, increased rewards for winning, and some changes to the penalty system that I, as someone who has yet to take advantage of the highly-priced demo, couldn't possibly understand. Hit the link for more details, or just turn on your PS3 and load up the game, which I am sure will explain everything.

Sony Gets It Right With This Gran Turismo 5 Spot

Posted by Brian Ashcraft at 11:40 PM on December 11, 2007

The smart Sony ads continue! Here's a Gran Turismo 5 spot that has a family marvelling at Sony Bravia. The daughter suggests that they buy the television and "this" — which the father thinks means a car. She explains that she meant a "game." The father can't believe that he's been watching a video game and not regular television. The mother and the son chime in that it is in fact a video game. The sales clerk pops up and does a sales pitch. Love it!

GT5 Prologue Coming At "End Of This Year"

Posted by Luke Plunkett at 1:20 PM on August 30, 2007

gt5p.jpgGT5's already been confirmed as appearing in 2008, but many of you lack patience. Your thirst for Gran Turismo is insatiable. Handy, then, that Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is coming at the "end of this year" (I presume globally, since I got this from both SCE Europe and Australia), as both a download and on Blu-Ray. It'll feature online racing, 40 cars and a PSN channel devoted exclusively to the game, as well as yummy, shiny graphics (1080p, 60FPS). Which means that, unlike previous prologues, which were demos for fools easily parted with their money, this one might actually be worth looking into. If you like your driving games to be the equivalent of a prolonged session of self-harm, that is. Which I do. Press release follows.

gt5_ps3_screenshots_10.jpgWe just had a chance to sit down with Gran Turismo series creator Kazunori Yamauchi to not only watch the Polyphony Digital president play some expert-level Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, but catch up on how the teaser version of Gran Turismo 5 will play. The early taste of the first proper PLAYSTATION 3 release will feature a number of firsts, including online play, damage effects for cars, and fully modelled interiors.

Gran Turismo 5 Dated For Japan

Posted by Luke Plunkett at 11:20 PM on August 13, 2007

mrgt.jpgThink GT5 is still awhiles off? Quit your thinking, it's not good for you. Stick to listening. Listen to Kazunori Yamauchi, for example, who reckons the game will be out in Japan by next summer. Around July-ish. Which if precedent is anything to go by (and it normally is, that's why they call it precedent), we can expect an American release by next Christmas and a PAL release in...what, 2009? And that's if everything goes according to plan. Which, it being Gran Turismo, it probably won't.
