Back at GDC in 2006, Lucasarts showed off some footage of a “next-gen” Indiana Jones game. It looked great! Fast forward three years, however, and that game has been canned, replaced with an awful, awful Wii downgrade.
You poor thing. You didn’t watch the videos, did you? You went and bought Indiana Jones: Staff of Kings on Wii, thinking “what could go wrong?”, and now, you’re left thinking “well, everything can go wrong”. Not quite!
Both George Lucas and Steven Spielberg helped LucasArts craft the story for upcoming Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings.
New footage on StarWars.com shows Millennium Falcon pilot Han Solo as a playable/unlockable character in upcoming title Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings.
This clip, from the upcoming Indiana Jones & The Staff of Kings for the Wii, shows how Indy’s famous whip works. Basically, you waggle to use, and you use it for everything.
Ordinarily I’d look at these Wii screenshots and think, it doesn’t look like much (get those spiders!) but it’ll probably look great on the core consoles. Then I remember it’s not being made for them.
Here’s a trailer for Indiana Jones & The Staff of Kings. Specifically, the Wii version. Were you excited before? Then don’t watch. Your excitement may be dampened somewhat.
The official site for Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings now includes a nice selection of screens and some new gameplay details.
While it’s common knowledge that LucasArts has been working on a next-generation Indiana Jones game for quite some time now, we haven’t heard anything about an Indy game coming to the PSP and DS – until now. A rating has shown up on European game rating organisation PEGI for Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings, a title for the two major handheld systems. While it may be news to us, folks in the know seem to have known about the title for quite some time. While we have absolutely no information on the title other than the name, I think it is safe to assume it involves Indiana Jones, some sort of staff, and possibly some kings, either present or implied. Thanks Pan European Gaming Information! You’ve been informative as always.
