New Multiwinia Video Shows ‘King of the Hill’

For those of you who don’t know, Multiwinia is the fourth game developed by Introversion Software. I was a huge fan of Defcon and Darwinia. Multiwinia looks like it’s shaping up very nicely. In this video we take a look at the “King of the Hill” mode where players try to control zones.

New Title Chronometer In The Works At Introversion

Over at Introversion Software’s blog, the developer of Defcon and Darwinia has revealed it’s at work on its sixth game, Chronometer, with funding from the UK’s Channel 4.

It’s unclear what the fate of the game, currently in pre-production, will be; said Introversion’s Chris Delay:

Ultimately we don’t know for certain if Chronometer will be going into full production – the conditions would have to be right for Introversion and for Channel 4, although they’ve been fantastic to work with during pre-production. We’re pretty much finished with this phase of Chronometer for now, and we’ll keep you updated about this interesting sixth game project as decisions are made.

The team is currently preparing for the launch of Multiwinia (shown), a multiplayer version of strategy title Darwinia, for PC.

First Look At Multiplayer Darwinia

Though it’s been public knowledge for a while now, nobody has really seen or heard much about Multiwinia, the upcoming multiplayer edition of Introversion’s brilliant strategy title Darwinia. Have now! RPS’ Kieron Gillen has had a sit-down with the game, which can be best summed up with “It’s an RTS cut back to its core essentials – you can file it next to World in Conflict, but even pacier”. Works for me. Those interested in seeing how exactly the whole thing works – and how it looks – pop on over the Rock, Paper, Shotgun.

Darwinia 360 Is Darwinia+

Darwinia on the 360 is a “possible future release” no more. Developers Introversion have, after the ESRB leak the other day, come out and officially announced the project, which is to be called Darwinia+. You’ll get two games for the price of one: Darwinia, and the multiplayer Multiwinia: Survival of the Flattest will be bundled together, and while at the moment that’s all Introversion are saying, quite frankly at the moment that’s all we need to be hearing. Darwinia Coming To Xbox 360

The latest batch of ESRB ratings shows that Introversion Software’s “digital dreamscape” Darwinia is planned for an Xbox 360 release, most likely via Xbox Live Arcade. The virtual themepark of Darwinia is a bit hard to nail down to one genre, as it features real-time strategy gameplay with action and puzzle elements all nestled within an abstract design. For anyone interested in this possible future release, demos are available online via the official site or Valve’s Steam service. It’s nothing if not interesting.

New Introversion Game Will Spawn Cities Like A God

Subversion is the name of a work-in-progress from developers Introversion, who of course you know from Darwinia and Defcon. So it should, at the very least, be different. Certainly looks that way from the development reports coming out from the project, with lead programmer Chris Delay gushing over the game’s scalable city generator, which is not only able to custom-build its own cities – with around 70,000 buildings in them – but each individual building’s design as well. Understandably, Delay is excited: Subversion is undoubtedly the most ambitious game we’ve ever attempted to create – massive in scope and totally uncompromising in it’s requirements. But every day I work on it I’m even more convinced – this is the big one, Introversion Software’s Magnum Opus, and it’s going to be the best game we will ever make.

Big words! Then again, I’m absolutely fascinated with the idea of just this city-builder, so if there’s a whole game to go on top of it, maybe they really are onto something big. It’s all in your head, Part 8 [Introversion, via Rock, Paper, Shotgun]
