‘Trailer’ For That Unreleased Aussie Stargate Game

Kotaku AU

Years ago, when Stargate: SG-1 was still in its prime (and on the air), JoWood, MGM and a Sydney studio called Perception got together to make a game based on the franchise, called Stargate SG-1: The Alliance. Sufficed to say, it never saw the light of day, the project stricken by all sorts of problems and legal shenanigans. Eventually, in 2007, JoWood tried to take the game and the rights to it from Perception. The studio won the fight but the game was never released.

Sam And Max Totally Headed To The Wii

Our money was indeed on a full release of the episodic Sam And Max season one for the Wii, and now all we have to do is sit back and wait for our winnings to pour in, as Telltale tells GameSpot official tales of just such a release. Both European and North American Wii consoles will be graced with the first season of the dog and bunny-thing show this fall, with Dreamcatcher and The Adventure Company handing U.S. publishing and JoWood handling Europe’s version, which comes complete with German and French voiceovers plus Italian and Spanish subtitles. I almost want to import the Euro version, just to hear Max threatening people in the language of romance, or perhaps French.

Sam & Max Headed For The Wii, Nobody Surprised

Had to happen. Had to. A press release on JoWood’s website is claiming that the Austrian publishers will be releasing Telltale’s Sam & Max series on the Wii. Can’t see how this couldn’t work. The game’s simple graphics engine can run on the Wii, the Wii Remote steps in for the mouse, everyone’s happy. And while speculation is mounting that the game may be available on Nintendo’s upcoming WiiWare downloadable service, common sense says that line of thinking is…wishful. Our money’s on a disc-based release of the PC’s “Season 1″. We’ve contacted Telltale for a little more info, we’ll get back to you when there’s more to get back to you about. Perception and JoWood Do Legal Dance. Again

Kotaku AU

You may remember some time ago that Australian developer Perception was working on a game based on the Stargate SG-1 franchise. The title was to be published by JoWood.

However, in late 2005, JoWood decided to pull the plug. According to the publisher, it was unhappy with both the quality and speed of Perception’s work. Perception quickly filed charges of defamation against Albert Seidl, the company’s CEO. As far as I’m aware, those proceedings are ongoing.

Now Perception is after damages, in the order of €8 million. Going by the official statement from Perception, if it wins the case, the payout could destroy JoWood.

Press release after the jump.

Dungeon Lords Somehow Expands, Sequalises

JoWood Productions has announced plans for a stand-alone expansion and sequel to 2005′s PC action RPG, Dungeon Lords. The production of the games will be overseen by Dreamcatcher Interactive, the original game’s publisher which JoWood purchased in November of last year in an effort to move into North America. For the record, Dungeon Lords was probably the buggiest, most incomplete game I had ever seen upon release. Buttons didn’t work, tutorials were hosed, etc. Even now the game isn’t complete, over 2 years after release. It was the only PC game that GameStop ever let me return, calling it defective. How that game scores an expansion pack in 2008 that bridges the gap between the original and the 2009 sequel is completely beyond me. Apparently it sold over a million copies. I’m guessing they’ve figured bargain bins sales into that number. Ew.
