Nintendo published a new trailer for the 3DS title Kid Icarus: Uprising a couple days ago.
Expectation have to be running high for the multiplayer component of Kid Icarus: Uprising. After all, it’s the designer beloved for pitting Nintendo’s all-stars and B-listers against each other in crazy free-for-all battles who’s in charge of the game.
While Nintendo is bullish on the Kid Icarus: Uprising‘s multiplayer and various battle modes, sister site Kotaku Japan noticed something odd. Something familiar. Something Metroid.
According to game designer Masahiro Sakurai, Uprising is finished — or, as they say in the game industry, “it’s gone gold”. Read Kotaku impressions of this “gaudy, goofy, surprisingly hardcore shoot-’em-up”.

When Nintendo announced Kid Icarus: Uprising at last year’s E3, I remember the enthusiastic response from the crowd. “Hooray!” they said. “A new Kid Icarus game!”
I…just…you know…sigh. Whatever. Stuff like this won’t stop anyone from buying Kid Icarus on 3DS. But stuff like this does make me wonder who the hell is getting paid to make pointless decisions like this.
Who’s excited about Kid Icarus? I sure am. But this ridiculous stand that’s packaged with it? Nothankyou.
News that Kid Icarus: Uprising will feature both local and online multiplayer was followed up with this video showing the game’s online play in action.
Four big 3DS titles, including Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D and Resident Evil: Revelations, are getting free downloadable demos in Japan, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata said last night.
