Nintendo Australia has improved dramatically as of late when it comes to getting hardware and software out in a relatively timely fashion, but the only blot on 2010's copybook was the delayed release of Kirby's Epic Yarn, which has just this second received its Aussie release date.

Nintendo, in my opinion at least, has had a really good year in terms of solid games. Super Mario Galaxy 2, Metroid. Other M, Donkey Kong Country Returns, etc, etc. And to their credit Nintendo Australia has done a good job of making sure we've gotten most games in a timely fashion - but the Kirby delay still rankles! Well, Australia is usually in line with the Europe release of games, so the fact the the Kirby's Epic Yarn is due for release on the 25th of Feb in Europe, may suggest that Aussies will get the game on a similar date.

In recent years, top people at Nintendo have vowed, despite scorn and eye-rolls, to make games that keep people smiling. Ignoring the grumps, the company brings us Kirby's Epic Yarn, a Wii testament to the potency of joy.

Crocheted amigurumi Kirby doll made by reader Christina K. in anticipation of the launch of Kirby's Epic Yarn. Without a pattern, too!. Kirby looks delightful - and a little like a hacky sack. Don't let him near any hippies, Christina!
