Promised for delivery by April 30, NLL Lacrosse 2010 arrived a week early on Xbox Live’s Indie Games channel. The $US5 download delivers all the players on all 11 teams of the National Lacrosse League.
By the end of April, Xbox Live’s Indie Games channel will see a very unusual first: The service’s first sports title licensed by a professional league, and backed with the sponsorship of a major brand.
Of the independent games available on Xbox Live, a sports title is currently the No. 1 downloaded title and another is the No. 2-rated game, across all offerings. But sports is far from the service’s dominant genre.
Absolutely, it’s an exciting and physical sport. But even lacrosse fans admit the game has a niche following. But lacrosse does have its own video game now, which just went up on Xbox Live yesterday. Suck on that, water polo!
