Yesterday, Al Lowe told me a dirty joke. “What do you call a redneck with a pig under one arm and a sheep under the other arm?” “Bisexual.”
Turns out not everybody is Tim Schafer. Though the creator of Grim Fandango set Kickstarter records earlier this year, raising over $US3 million for his point-and-click adventure game, most crowdfunded gaming projects aren’t nearly as successful.
Al Lowe, creator of the lecherous adventure game series, has started a Kickstarter to develop a “Reloaded” edition of the original Leisure Suit Larry. They hope to raise $US500,000 and release the game for PC, consoles and mobile. [Kickstarter]
Since the mechanics of old-school adventure games are relatively simple, they tend to age quite well — which is why I loved both Monkey Island remakes (with the voice acting turned off obviously). But now EGM are reporting that a Leisure Suit Larry remake is in the works, and I don’t really know how I feel about that.
And King’s Quest, and Space Quest… and whole host of others. If you head to this nifty website with your iPad web browser, you can gain access to a whole set of old-school Sierra point and click adventures, tailored for the iPad touch interface.

Alright Ashcraft. I’ll see your Japanese schoolgirl drumming and raise you a one-man bad, who is named after a classic 80′s/90′s adventure game series from Sierra.
