The Story Of Doodle Jump: Brotherly Love And Digital Snacks It seems like only a couple days ago that Singapore’s Media Development Authority announced a ban on BioWare’s Mass Effect for the Xbox 360 due to hot, steamy, eye color-changing alien lesbian sex scenes. Perhaps between Monday and today they caught a glimpse at one of the clips of the scene online and realised it wasn’t so bad. Perhaps the MDA got a little overexcited. Either way, today they’ve reversed said ban, allowing implied cross-species lovemaking to rain over Singapore like fairy dust, along with an M18 rating. The Board of Film Censors (BFC) said in a statement on Friday evening that it will selectively use games ratings to ‘enable highly anticipated games to be launched in Singapore’ until it puts in place a games classification system in January.
You know all that female on quasi-female alien action in Mass Effect? Don’t play dumb, pervs. We all know it’s the hottest quasi-female alien scene since Total Recall (and before that, probably the original Star Trek). Anyway, according to GameAxis, that juicy content has gotten Bioware’s game banned in Singapore. And as far as we’re concerned, restricting mature audiences from enjoying the fruits of love’s labour between two hot, anatomically-compatible humanoids is outright un-American.

Here it is, the one clip from Mass Effect you’ve been waiting to see. I have to say they handled it pretty well for a video game. I’m sure there will be some of you that find this shocking and even more that will find it mildly to uncomfortably titillating. However, it’s shocking not because of the partial nudity, lesbianism or the inter-species sex, but the fact that that tawdry alien girl is doing the nasty with her superior officer. Is that even legal?
Say what you will about BioWare’s PG-friendly policy on naughty bits, at least they’re being consistent. If girl-on-alien-girl sex wasn’t going to show much, then gyrating alien stripper girls won’t either. Remember, lads, before you get too disappointed: suggestive can be sexy too.
Those looking forward to Mass Effect for it’s real-time dialogue mechanic, you can get a real good look at it throughout this trailer. Those looking forward to hot girl-on-girl-alien action, well you might want to skip to about the 1:03 mark. Just don’t expect flailing blue nipples – BioWare are taking the PG-friendly route when it comes to interstellar boots-knockin.
Heroine Sheik, recently adopted by The Village Voice, has an interesting story up about Portal and it’s all female cast. I remember thinking, when I started playing Portal, that it was interesting that the main character was a woman. And that, much more importantly, the game developers didn’t really make a big deal about that, in fact they made no deal about it. The only way you know you’re playing a woman is by catching a glimpse of the avatar through portals or in a mirror.
