According to a new job ad popping up on the Lucasfilm website, Lucasarts is currently building a “new way of connected online gaming that is going to revolutionize the industry.” Now I’m used to hearing hyperbole in my press releases, but in my job ads? This is new!
I caught this over the weekend when our friends at Rock, Paper Shotgun posted it — some folks have been dilligently working on putting together an HD “Deluxe” version of the beloved Tim Schafer/Lucasarts adventure gaming classic Grim Fandango. They’ve posted a video that, sadly, isn’t in-engine, but it does give a good sense of what their finished product might look like.
Australia’s classification board has received an application for an M-rated game entitled “Paper, Scissors, Stone,” to be published jointly by Electronic Arts, BioWare and LucasArts. As amusing as the concept is, this is most likely Star Wars: The Old Republic, which will not include Australia (nor any countries outside North America or Europe) when the game launches Dec. 20.
Later this week, the asteroid YU55 will pass close to the Earth. How close? Like, between the moon and the Earth close. PC gamers may remember the last time this happened, in 1995.
Star Wars: The Old Republic launches on December 20 in North America and December 22 in European territories, Bioware and LucasArts said this morning.
